After the rant, I would have immediately thanked them for thinking I looked young enough to be driving Daddys Car.

This affected you that much? Really?

These guys have such a degree of influence on you that it really mattered what these guys thought or said? If this gets you hot headed you must be a real disaster when confronted with actual problems.

Irony!

A post about Jealousy.... and then jealousy within the post!

Classic Thread!

If I was in a situation where my kid was going to college, straight A student, never gave me any problems, did what I asked when I asked, and was part of the family rather than being a part time contributor I would have no problem buying them a C6 to go off to college in.

Yeah yeah it's what kids are suppose to do but not all kids, finanaicaly advantaged or disadvantaged, DO NOT DO THIS!

It's a little judgemental isn't it to be sitting at your keyboard questioning what this 18 year old deserves or does not deserve, what decisions his parents made?

In short it falls under the classification of Nunya!

Wow...I thought I did contain my anger thats why I turned around and walked away!!! No, I don't believe I'm a walking disaster actually I'm laid back most of the time, however just like EVERYONE else on this thread at one time or another they have got a little upset over something they should'nt have. Otherwise I would probably be in jail like most nutcases if I was a "real disaster when confronted with actual problems", because life is full of problems if you let it!!

Thanks Junkman for the pics....

If you are 30 yrs. old you must look very young for your age for them to say that! I guess young dudes don't expect anyone under 40 to step out of a Vette. Tom

Damn youre missing my point!!!....Jealousy has NOTHING to do with what Ive been talking about.....If this or ANY kid comes out of a situation like this with a decent work ethic then that's FINE....But more often than not, that isnt the case...Ive seen it a thousand times....
And as far as kids staying out of trouble and doing the right thing...it's been my experience the VAST majority of them DO....Yes, there are those that screw up and get into trouble with the law....that's why there are juvenile courts and detention centers and everything in between....Funny, Ive never seen a program where you take your kid for rewards and extravagant gifts simply because he stayed out of trouble and did the right thing....Unfortunately, society doesnt normally reward you with extravagant gifts just for doing the right thing....That usually comes with a strong work ethic....

I am with you all the way Dan, but I was brought up to beleive that if you wanted something you had to work hard for it. I don't see anything wrong with a parent getting their kid(s) a car, but a new C6Z?

I don't know the kid from Adam, and don't know his family or the story behind why he wound up with the car, but there is a good probability that, that car will not be appeciated as much as mine, your, or most everyone elses that have worked hard for theirs.

Why would you let that bother you. It is your car and you shouldn't feel obligated to justify ownership to anyone.

Don't take things too seriously and you will be alot happier.

When I am out in my coupe I get the senior comments and I just smile and think of all the achievements I accomplished to get to this point.

Don't lose your cool or you might be driving alone.....remember the ladies will only put up with so much. Always consider her feelings before your own.

Had something similar happen,

I was driving down to the Beach and while at a light, the passenger in a 05+ V6 mustang gave me the finger and said "Your Dad called and said he wanted his vette back"

Heh, I was like "Yeah well your little sister called and said she wanted her V6 mustang back"

I am 21 years old, but I paid every penny for my vette!

While my job definitely gives me a lot of insight into the worst of people..I also see a lot of good.....This subject is something that a lot of people agree with me on, and many of them arent cops....There's a lot that disagree too....and that's fine.....but Im in a position to see the outcome of a lot of spoiled kids.....more often than not, it isnt pleasant........I suppose I really shouldnt complain though....as long as people continue to spoil their kids there will be a need for cops...correctional officers....firemen....and a plethora of other public servants...

With all due respect, unless you know the kid or his family I would not be so quick to judge them. 78k comes alot easier for some than others...

Of COURSE it does.....but an 18 year old is still an 18 year old......Ever see the biography of the Rockefellers???....Probably the richest family in US history....The old man was worth billions....yet he made his kids work for a meager allowance and learn an incredible work ethic...By the time they were ready to take the reins...they knew the true value of a dollar....
Tell me an 18 year old that drives a new Z-06, paid for by daddy, insurance and tags and gas and every other related expense paid for as well, as well paying for college and all the expenses that relate to that....knows the value of a dollar...But then again I suppose why should he....his gravy train will probably last him his entire life...
