Daddys Car!!!

Those in doubt watch " Pursuit of happiness " :-) LOL

I know how you feel about when people say "Daddy's car." I'm 26 and I look 18. My dad drives a Solstice GXP and the irony is that he should have my car and I should have his. I learned to drive on my dad's 85 Vette. So it'd make sense...
But I worked my butt off to get my Vette and I'll be damned if I'd let someone get away with that jealous crap.
You did great!
Yeah when I had my first vette my parents were driving 95 bmw and a small suv and I had a new vette, I got that all the time, My simple response was " actually my dad wished he has this car" now he has his vette and I have mine, So if I get that I usually say " no his is yellow I liked red better so I bought it" leaves them with nothing to say :-)
Think of a few things. One, if comments like that bug you, you are probably driving a Corvette for the wrong reasons, maybe the "status" it perceives to give you as opposed to the true quality of a fast American sports car that is the proven bang for your buck choice.
Or maybe you just are a hot head looking for a fight. Or maybe you want to impress your girl by flexing your muscle.
Fact is I have no clue why. I think everyone here would have handled it their own way because we are all different. Personally I would have cruised on by not caring. I would love to be driving my dad's car because that would mean I didn't live 750 miles away from my family.
As for the young kid with the nice car. Yes safety is a concern, but there are a lot of young drivers who can handle fast cars, and in the opposite there are a lot who can't. We don't know if this kid is an aspiring Nascar driver who could whoop us even if he had a '78 L82 and we were in our C5 or 6... He could be that good... well realistically I don't think any of us suck that bad
.Second you have to think of economies of scale. One poster commented about his new truck he got. Think of this kid with the C6Z... what if his dad makes 50-100 times more than the Valedictorian's dad. To scale that a 78k car is peanuts to him. So the justification could be the same but the result is different because of the economic situation.
As for the value of a dollar. Does the kid know the value of a dollar because he has a car most aspire to own and an education most don't have paid for? Who are you to make that decision. Why does that bug you? Why do you feel that your view of how a child should be raised is right over another persons? Those are most likely your issues... not theirs.
The fact of the matter is ALL of our opinions our ill conceived and bound to be different.
We have all been brought up differently. I was lucky to have my grandpa pay into a fund when I was born that paid for in-state college. My Dad and I are both American car enthusiasts... yes I had some nice vehicles.
I paid for my 2002 Corvette (well, am paying for it). Could I have got a C6... could I have spent more money? Yes. Could I have lived without a Corvette? I wouldn't call it living but yes
. I am 24 years old. I totally expect to see many of those comments in my future. If you think I don't know the value of a dollar because I had nice cars and trucks. That is a fair opinion for you to have. I don't have to prove to you that I work hard because I don't care what other people think.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Then again if someone is dressed like a " kid " acting like a kid, its usually safe to say they dont pay for the car them self, this is not always the case, but can affect what people say...
If you are dressed with class ( ie. pants NOT down around A$$ and cloths that fit x4 too big ) people are more likely to treat you with respect
***NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS SITUATION BY ANY MEANS, JUST THAT I HAVE SEEN THIS WHILE AT EVENTS***
Wow! 5 pages of pissin and moaning, all because some moron said "Daddys Car"
Didn't seem that big of a deal to me, but we all have different buttons that get pushed. Which of course get different reactions from us.
Dan . . . think a lot of folks may have missed the point you where trying to make and may have taken your words in another direction.
Your comment did remind me of a kid I use to see driving to school every morning. I had just gone through a divorce, had to sell my Vette to pay bills. I had just moved to Dallas TX for a new job. This was back about 1983. Every morning I would get in my old truck and head off for another 12 hour day at work. Just about the same time and place I would see this young kid driving to school in his white Lamborghini. I thought to myself, it must be nice. My first car was a 50 plymouth that I had worked and saved for. I think it was bad judgement on the fathers part giving a 18 year old a C6Z. But, it really isn't any of our business one way or the other. We all have made our own mistakes at one time or another.
Junkman . . . Thank you for changing the subject for a few minutes. Two very beautiful women with great smiles to boot.
Brought a smile to my face. The only women that smile at me like that have blue hair and no teeth!
It's tough getting old, feel 30 but have a 61 year old body. But, I'm still driving my Vette!

Next time listen to the first girl - YOUR Girl and keep walking, glad all worked out
Somethimes our girls are smarter than we think
Thanks,Matt
), and my name is on the title. im 24 and on my own now with a well paying salary job. we have a lot of fun working on it together though. he has been a corvette enthusiast since before i was born, so he was pretty excited that i wanted a corvette. otherwise, there would be no way he would have given me the loan for it
. would you guys consider this daddys car??
Just bizarre some of the stupid stuff people will say about it.
