Something like what they said is just not worth getting into a potential conflict about.
I've worked since I was twelve and everything I have I have earned. I've built a few vettes from the ground up and if someone said Daddys car it would not of upset me - I might have had a smart alec remark back but I would not of been upset.
Now if someone out there wants to give me a new Zo6 I would be thrilled to say it was given to me. I would even put a sign on it.
Any takers???
Just remember there are a lot of nut cases out there. I know more than a few. A friend of mine was driving and cut a guy off as he wanted to go into Micky D's. The guy he cut off got really pissed and followed us into the Micky D's. He then proceeded to reach into the drivers side window and grabbed my friend by the neck. He quickly let go of my friend as the knife point pushed his head agains the roof. I don't know if he wet his pants or what. This was over 35 years ago before the police got involved in every little disagreement. Now everyone has a gun and worried about being disrespected. Blow it off and just smile and laugh.
Haha not taking any sides but dont criticize him on grammar, im pretty sure the english grammar doesnt include elipses (....) at the end of every single sentence.
WOW!!!!....Great comparison.........Mindless rhetoric vs a few extra periods......and FWIW, theyre not elipses....I stutter!!....Nice profile BTW

Sure it's not....what what kind of "life lesson" are they teaching him???....Is this kid going to grow up knowing the true value of a buck???....Or what hard work is all about???.....I dont have a problem doing something nice for your kid if he/she deserves it....but c'mon...a C6 Z-06??.......Let's be real....
When my kid is 18 and I deem they deserve it, I have no problem with buying them a very nice car. My dad bought me a new truck when I graduated high school, but I was Valedictorian in a class of 500, had a full scholarship to college, and didn't get in trouble. I would argue that those types of achievements are much harder than simply working at a job. Maybe the kid is a punk and doesn't deserve it, but maybe he has busted his tail in school and stayed out of trouble and his parents want to reward him since they obviously have the cash to do so. I guarantee it would be cheaper to buy him a C6 ZO6 than paying for 4 years of college. My parents did everything they could to give me a better life, and I turned out ok. I believe that is the way it should be, and I will do the same for my kids. I don't work for just myself and then tell my kids to go make their own money--I work to provide the best for my family. Remember, you can't take it with you when you die, so why not spoil those you love.

Good points...but FWIW, the kid in question is a full-time college student...and daddy's paying that bill too, along with all related expenses...As far as busting your tail and staying out of trouble...I thought that was the norm...Isnt that what kids are supposed to do?????.....Ya know, my parents couldnt afford to do squat for me...bought my first car with my own money....and I turned out okay too....I think it's probably as much the individual as it is anything....as far as your new truck upon graduation....I think that's fair considering your accomplishments.....but I certainly bet it wasnt $78K!!!

Well, he better be making straight A's if Dad is paying for both! Doing well in school and staying out of trouble IS what kids are supposed to do, but it is NOT the norm these days. Oh well, some people have more money than sense. And no, my truck was not $78K! I wish, I would have sold it and bought a both a vette and another truck!
This isn't OT, but damnit man post em up already!!
Good grief, am I going to have to become the CF Thread Saver when babe pics are missing? You know when guys call for pics, you have to oblige...especially for our boys in uniform! Oh well, here I go again:
Just had to revive and chime in on this ever-so-interesting topic...
To the OP, you're 30. Take comments like that and run with them. Shoot back with, "That's right... I'm DADDY!" or something short and to the point like that. You're there to have a good time. Don't let the ramblings of a few idiots get you off track.
I had my car attacked in a parking lot at the local water park. They bought an italian sub, and rubbed my car down with it. Tomatoes on the fender, mayonaise on the windows and meat and bread on the hood. Had I caught the sonsabitches in the act, I would have stepped to them the same way you did, and been in the right.

You're lucky it turned out the way it did, and that the two guys (wouldn't call them MEN) had no huevos - if they did and had a couple of adult beverages (liquid courage) in them, it would have been two against one. Bottom line - it wasn't worth it.
I'm a hot head too - and up to this point, I've been lucky and not gotten my *** kicked confronting a couple of jerks. But one of these days.........
Best bet is ignore 'em. That hurts their feelings more if you don't play into their game.
Not you
But Randy here is ALWAYS the voice of reason. You did a good job---much better than I would have done I think
