I would want to be able to at least fully open both doors on an individual car at the same time, but not necessarily both doors on all cars at the same time. Since the Vette is a wide car, I would probably measure the width of it, or a full size pick up truck, whichever is wider, with both doors fully opened.
If I was custom building, I would probably make it so I could open both doors on all cars at the same time. Which would leave a lot of space between cars.
That would be a four car garage with only two cars in.
On buying a house, look for a garage first. The house you only sleep, and eat in. the GARAGE is where you LIVE . . .
Not a lot in it??....My brother-in-law is a custom home builder...he does a lot of work with brick....There's a fortune there!!!
and "Dark side" you say???..HARDLY...Ive worked TWO jobs for the past 20+ years....My wife works too....as far as my toys....theyre all paid for except the SSR and C6 Z-06....and lets not forget Im probably 20 years older than you are and no kids at home...and as far as my house...
a cop at 70 years old, thats abit hard to swallow. i built this house in 2002 and have $230,000.00 in it to build it. thats less than the average home value in denver. could i afford to buy this house outright , hell no, could i afford to have it built, hell no, i was able to afford to build it myself because that is what i do...
Good comments in this thread. Given a choice, consider garage doors 10' wide. I have three 8' wide garage doors, and my race car trailer was 8'1" wide requiring me to store it in a commercial storage lot because of development covenants. Keeping the rig in the garage would have been handy for not only storage, but easy for under-car maintenance.

No, I'll be 51 years old this July...My bad, from looking at your pic I put you at about 30-35 years old...unless I was looking at the wrong pic....
I think it's safe to say we BOTH busted our asses to get what we have...Dont know about you, but while my co-workers are out playing golf or fishing, Im usually WORKING!!!...and FWIW, I paid $57K for my house in 1993...Ive dumped about $50K into upgrades and a 3 car garage....

I.... hate you. I keep finding these stinking 11' wide things attached to really nice houses. My wife is starting to get irritable because I walk in, go to the garage, and go - Nope.
to answer the original question , if you can nd one that has a garage that is 24' deep x 30' wide with 2 9' garage doors that would be perfect
if you are talking about building a shop / garage mine is 40' deep x 60' wide and i wish it was another 20' wider and had 14' ceiling instead of 12' but what the hey it works pretty good as it is
Hmmm...that means you'll have 0.75 inches less on each side than I do. You should still be fine. You'll just need to hold the door a little when you enter and exit. Not a big deal.
There will be a few limitations. The car door obviously won't stay open on it's own, nor will you be able to vacuum the interior without risk of damage. Still, I've never had a problem waxing the car or even doing some minor mods in that space.
The actual opening of my garage door is 105 inches.
I think the car is going to fit. Post photos when you buy it!
I got a big driveway so doing those things shouldn't be an issue just pull it out and get to work. Once I get settled into the new place I'll see about making the purchase.
