Now since you've got more info as to what that includes seems about right.

Congrats and let us know the end results

i also have an insurance brokerage and there is nothing illegal about it..... if your nephew is 18 and licensed and dont reside in the same household then its a done deal..... if u gonna burn 13K at least make the insurance pay for it, but i bet when u tell the claim adjuster they are charging 13K he will luagh at u (or the shop owner)

and any shop that charges 13K for a ls6 install is NUTZ.... i dont care if they are "reputable"

I agree with those that say that is a WHOLE LOT OF $ for that engine, but it's yours so best of luck to you! It should definitely be covered under insurance though.

Perhaps VD is quoting high for insurance purposes and will actually
charge you less or let you slide for the balance and deductible?

And if you haven't made a claim, you should do so ASAP.
A $10K bill is exactly why we buy insurance.
Now do you REALLY think that an insurance company would fall for that?? They know to the penny what a motor cost and as far as labor rates go they pretty much tell a shop what they can charge, anything over that amount comes out of YOUR pocket.
