Thanks for your input!

Instead of wiring a switch and going through the firewall with the wiring you could wire them to a remote controll box. I do that on my kits and it works very well. Easy to wire and only a remote controll fob on your keychain. Oznium has raised their prices on them so I get mine from autolumination. You can also get the kits here!

jw now has the cove kits with a 4 function remote. Amazing results and easy to wire. Heres a link to the video.

I've got the cove kit from JW Motoring and like that so much that I think I'll give Tim's mod a try and get the stuff from Oznuim and hook another set to the turn signals/DRL's via the DRL & fog light relays . We'll see what happens!

I am definitely doing this, couple questions though, Which wires did you tap into to make them work as turn signals ONLY? (colors please) and if you use a DPDT relay and added a switch would that make them turn on and stay on? if not, how could you accomplish that? what I'm looking for is to use them as turn signals but have the option of flipping a switch and having them stay on for nighttime coolness, I already did the LED vanity plate mod and love it, was considering, tapping into rear signals and running a wire to the coves so I'm sure they only worked as signals and avoid the DRL issue. Thanks and love what you do, it gives me mod fever!

was that "lame" comment really necessary? I was asking for advice, if you can't say something nice then at least say something clever, but thanks for taking the time to answer, I know your time is valuable.

We have to fit amber turn signal repeaters in UK to pass the safety compliance yest on importaing the car.

I fitted mine on the front fenders

If I'd known that the inspectors would accept the gill solution I'd have gone this way. One UK owner modified his using a standard lamp unit:

I'm not sure thats possible and I spent a while looking at wiring diagrams before I modified mine.

Can't answer the relay question as I have never played around with that idea.

The problem is unless you inhibit the DRLs they always feed the turn signal circuit. You have a dual filament bulb on the T/S. There are 3 wires; a common ground, a brown hot for parking lights and a blue/white hot for turn signals.

At the back to get the turn signals to operate independently you have to snip a white wire under the dash. Unless you do that any light wired into the turn signal circuit would come on when you hit the brakes as well as the turn signal switch.

I think, but I could be wrong, to get what you want you'd have to inhibit the DRLs (easiest to pull A2 in the engine fuse box). If you did that then just splice a parallel circuit into the blue/white and the black close to each turn signal lampholder. That gets you them working as turn signals. To get a permanent light which comes on only when the lights are on you'd need to tap an additional wire with an inline switch into the parking light circuit. I used the hot wire to the small parking light in the front lamp cluster but my parking lights are mounted in my headlights.

Those relays are in the passenger side footwell fuse box. Remove the relays, flatten the end of the wires, tin the ends if you wish. Slide the end of the wires into the cavity as per the diagram and re-install the relay so it keeps the wires in place.
