I totally agree with post #10. I just bought a Vette with Borlas on it and you have to talk pretty loudly when cruising from 70-90mph in 6th on the Interstate. Above 2000rpm is pretty quiet. What is this partition people are talking about? I would definitely be interested in reducing the drone.
I'm a relatively new vette owner and I don't quite get this one. Have seen the question and comments before. I have Borla's and x-pipe on an 02 vert. I have a VERY minimal drone around 1800 but the stereo is no problem and carrying on a conversation, at speed, with the top down isn't a problem at all. And the way they back off when you down shift, well it gives me something I won't describe here. Have heard corsa's too, and personally I wouldn't trade. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
You either love the sound of your car talking back to you, or you do not.
Its simple. All sound is subjective. I do not have the stingers, I run the XR-1 through Kooks LTs with stock Cats which I am going to delete completely. I love the sound. I have a 1000 WT system in my car and I have no problems hearing the music at 75 MPH with the windows down or the top off. There are times when I turn off the music completely and just listen to the car talking to me. I hope the car gets even louder when I increase compression to 11:1, bigger cam and heads.
I've had the stingers for almost 3 years now. I love them but the few times that I do actually answer the phone in the car it can make it annoying to carry on a conversation. I try not to use the phone while driving so it's not much of an issue for me.
As already mentioned a partition may help reduce this. I'm not sure how much sound deadening material used for stereo system installs would help but maybe someone who has this will chime in.
Drone...Schmone! I got the Borla Quad Round Stingers on my 02 Vert, and have nothing but GREAT things to say about the sound, looks and customer satisfaction.
I did a lot of research, and have NEVER regretted the decision, nor would I ever consider changing them out. Top up / Top down, I can hear the stereo fine and have a conversation without "interference". To each their own...but I dont think you will regret your decision!
I have Borla stingers and love them. They do have some drone but I also have an upgraded stereo. My 2 fav exhaust systems are borla and corsa. But 2 me the Borla has a bit more aggressive sound.
OK.... I'm going to start a fight here i assume but I want Borla Stingers. Been putting them off for a year...HOWEVER!
I've read about the DRONE and I'd like to hear from both sides... the people that hate it and the people that think it's much to do about nothing....
I see there's a place I can get cat backs for $750 which is cool.
I have a 99 auto coup
Thanks
Had 2 tip Stingers for 3 years. The drone used to drive me mad. In the end I ditched them for a set of Corsa Tiger Sharks. Never regretted it to be honest.
In all honesty, I have an 01' A4 coupe thats bone stock aside from the Borla Stingers, and I have absolutely no drone whatsoever. I was also very sketchy about getting the Stingers after seeing many complain from the drone, but after I did it, I couldn't imagine going with anything else!!! I absolutely love the sound of the Borlas, and in my experience at least, I've had no drone whatsoever at any RPM.
