The Borla Stingers on my '99 A4 sound sensational!!! Only other thing I am considering is getting the Borla X-pipe. The V8 sounds are unique with this cat back. Take a ride with someone with the setup.

I have the Borla quad tips now. I hated the drone around 1800 - 2500 RPM. It echo so bad it hurt my ears. I just put on AR LT headers with cats, and a 224/228 cam. I was scared of the drone being louder. But to my surprise the drone is gone. No more deep base echo at the RPM's mentioned earlier. But the overall volume is louder. If that makes sense. I like Borlas now but hated them on my stock setup.

You had the best idea a while ago. I've said this about 10,000 times with regards to exhaust... so I'll shout it this time SOUND IS SUBJECTIVE TO THE INDIVIDUALS EARS WHAT'S DRONE TO ME MY NOT BE BAD TO SOMEONE ELSE

The best way is to take a ride in someone's car and hear for yourself. I am actually surprised at the objectivity in this thread.. lots of folks came clean and admitted they bought them and did not like them. Most of the time everyone just posts how great Borla's are becaue noone wants to admit they spent 900 bucks on an exhaust they don't like.

I've had just about every cat-back on my car..I kept changing ohter mods on the car so that kept changing the sound. I had the Borla's on my car for about 2 months. The first long road trip I took (not even long about 4 hours) I came home and took the Borla's off right away. The Drone wore my azz out

On 6 speed cars, it can be deal with a bit easier as you can shift and adjust RPM's to minimize drone...but on Automatic cars it's hard to escape the drone.

Good luck

i have a 2000 6spd coupe with longtube headers, xpipe and used to have borla stingers 4oval tips.

it sounded frekin awesome, but the dronewas just to much for me since it is my daily driver. if you go on a long distance trip my ears would be ringing all night long because of the constant resonance and pressure on the ears.

i got 4:10 gears and it helped a little by putting the drone rpm range a little lower than my average rpm, but it was still to much drone.

if only there was a way !!

i have z06 TI's now it is has no drone and more quiet. it is a happy medium until borla makes some stingers with no drone.

WE have had stingers for 4 years.
There was NO issue with drone on our '01 MN6 Vert until we put AR Headers on 2 years ago.
Then the drone became quite noticeable in the 70-80 mph range....
Yes it is there in the 1500-1700 rpm range in other gears at other speeds, but the only place it becomes an issue for my wife is on the highway top up at 70-80 mph...
My normal fix is to just drive slightly outside that band

I bought a set of Car Chemistry exhaust inserts which are reported on the forum to cure the drone, but have not had a chance to install them.

Sold mine and installed Ti's. Loved the Borlas to an extent but the drone was terrible. Might install cut outs in the future if I can find the low profile ones I saw here sometime ago. Anyone with info on these cut outs....

From my observations,

2-tip versions are slightly louder than the 4-tips

C5s with factory pup-cats (like mine) muffle almost all drone; my 01's 4-tip sound is ideal in every way.

You really can't say that because there is heavy drone on a long-tube-header C5 that this is also true of non-header C5s as well, because it most definitely is NOT. After comparing the Borla sound to almost all others at 2 Dyno Day events, I found the Stinger sound to be most like my 68 C3 exhaust, which had Doug Thorly headers and Super Turbo mufflers.

I have had the Stingers before and they were so annoying I got rid of them. We highly recommend the GHL's. I think they sound the best hands down and no annoying drone. I have a set on my personal car if anyone ever wants to hear them..

The 99 in my sig has the stingers. Check out the mods and if you are in NJ you are more then welcome to drive my car to see if the drone is too much. I can tell you it gets to me a lot. I actually put some sound deadener in the cargo area. I live near the princeton area....Tony

I see there's a place I can get cat backs for $750 which is cool.
I have a 99 auto coup
Thanks
