Hell, it's your car, do as you wish. You've got a bump protection factor and you're keeping the amp well ventilated. However, personally, I would have used a heavy, metal mesh, painted the same color as the surrounding carpet. Same end result, protection factor and efficiency-wise, and better looking, at least to my way of thinking.

If it was me I would get some plexiglass and build a protective cover for your amp. You can get the stuff in clear or tinted. It's available in most any color you want. Cut a couple if vents in it and wire in an 80mm or 90mm computer case fan to create airflow. You can probably do the whole project for $30 or $40 bucks.
You can get clear plexiglass at the home improvement stores. Google it if your not sure what plexiglass is.
