I was just wondering. I think that our c5s look pretty damn good, but some of my freinds say it looks dated and that I should pick up the new c6 z06. I could go ahead and pick up one tomorrow, but still like my frc. What would you do?
I don't think it looks dated at all, a lot of people (who don't know about the C6 obviously) still think mine is a new car! I still get kids on the side of the road waving to me, and people in gas stations telling me "nice car". I think the C5 will go down in history as one of the most beautiful Corvette designs ever. I'm never selling mine. (I do plan on adding a C6 to the stable in a few years though)

Just depends on what you like. If you like the C6, then go for it. Personally, I'm sticking with my C5 for a while.
NO WAY ! Are cars look better than the c-6 "50's" looking front grill and "60's" looking Ford G.T. headlights. lol. . I live In Miami where the c-5 has to compete with all kinds of excotic's. I still get those head turns when I drive by. and people always ask if its a new Vette. I think we still have 4 to 5 moore years before the dated thing come's in to play.
I agree with a couple comments, any friend that says that to another is jealous, even if they really are thinking it they should not repeat it to you.
Next, that the C5 corvette is aging gracefully.
But lastly, I feel it looks dated. I look at both of mine artic white and mag red II and at some angles the car looks like an older model. Of course with the right exterior and interior mods and a popping paint job the car can be given a face lift. Having said that it looks aged doesnt affect how much I like my car. I still love it and don't want a C6 unless I was able to mod it as much as I can afford to mod the C5.
Very strange................in the last year, at least 10 people have looked at my car and said......OH ...........is that one of the new ones? Dated...........I don't think so.
As long as men exist, curves will always be popular...
I like that one! I still have my shark too! C6s are nice but iI think the C5 lines are classic. I too have people think it is newer than it is. My personal opinion the C4 is the only weak one style wise,,just never could get into the wedgie style. It's not bad,,just my least favorite! And after working under the hood of my buddies 95 you coulden't GIVE me one, what a nightmare!!
Hi, Of course looks are always subjective. But inmo the c5 is one of a very small group of cars that are timeless in their looks and appeal. As manufacturers try to stimulate new sales they change styling. This is not always for the better. Many newer designs are not as appealing as the older ones. But human psychology being what it is, some always have to have the newest, or just a change of look. Not knocking it, but just saying that while you may feel your car is not as new looking as the latest, that doesn't mean it is less appealing. And many wish they would take more cues from the older models. I think the c5 is and always will be a beautiful car, just as I think the 55-57 tbirds, c2 midyears, JagXKE's, and just about all the finned behemouths of the 50's will always be appealing.
Just My Humble Opinion--Good Luck To All
C5 has a very clean design which doesn't make it too period specific, unlike the C4 which is a child of the 1980s. The stock interior is pretty dated ... not much you can do there but mod like there is no tomorrow.
If I could get a C6 Z06 I wouldn't be on here wondering if my FRC still looks good...
I was at the local dealer yesterday and saw a C6 up close. I prefer the styling of the C5 to the C6. Mind you, I'd prefer the mechanicals (engine, brakes, suspension) of the C6, but I'll keep my C5 and upgrade it as necessary.

I like the tail lights better on the C5, and the front end better as well. I still get all kinds of compliments and people can't believe the car is almost 10 years old. The thing is new vettes cost big bucks and only rich people can afford them new. They aren't a family car so they don't get driven. Then a new model comes out and Mr. Rich has to have one, so low mileage excellent used vettes are easy to come by. And I'll be buying a C6 in a couple years for a third of a new one.
I think that someday, the C5 will be lusted after much like the "midyear" cars today are. It's just a fantastic design that will wear well over the decades.
