Do you think the c5 looks dated?
Absolutely not. I continue to get comments from from people who believe it is a new car. Of course they are not Vette people who know better about generations, but the majority of people out there don't know any better. I'll take it over the C6 styling any day.

You gotta be pretty good to tell the difference between a 97 and an 04...Swapping out wheels can make it next to impossible if you dont get a look at the passenger side..(passenger side key hole disappeared in 2000)
I think he was thinking more along the lines that it looked d**n good for a 10 year old car.
I just explained to him that they were the same body from '97 to '04
love the looks of the C5 the C6 back end looks chopped of its a beautifull car otherwise. In my opinion the 63 split window coupe is the ultimate classic. Just think I owned one in the late 60s sold it for a great price at the time $ 2800.00 oh well
Last week a co-worker, an older woman, came up to me. She asked "Was that you in the white car with the white convertible top leaving at about 7 last night?" I said yes. She said "I don't know anything about cars but that's a work of art. It could be a sculpture in a museum." 'nuf said.
The question is what kind of car does you friends drive that thing the C5 looks dated? If they drive a mini van, Honda, or Toyota, then who cares what they think.
I don't think it looks dated at all, a lot of people (who don't know about the C6 obviously) still think mine is a new car! I still get kids on the side of the road waving to me, and people in gas stations telling me "nice car". I think the C5 will go down in history as one of the most beautiful Corvette designs ever. I'm never selling mine. (I do plan on adding a C6 to the stable in a few years though)
This is so true! as a matter of a fact, Today, as I was driving to work, I stopped at a redlight and this dude pulled up next to me hes like "nice car man. What year? 06? 07?" I told him its an 04, he didnt believe me haha

I get so many looks and compliments about my mil yel C5. I think the design is timeless. I prefer it over the regular C6 but the C6 Z06 is a different story.....
I think anything with low profiles looks dated (including trucks), but that might be because it always reminds me of the hotwheels cars I played with as a kid.
Of course they will to some degree, but many of the designs and characteristics are similar to the next generation. C5 was a radical departure from C4, but not so in comparison to C6. When compared to any 5+ year newer vehicles the horsepower on them is close or passing the C5. But C5 is still a major contender and holds its own. But we expect GM to keep pushing the envelope to bring us the newer and better.
Did you buy it to impress your friends, or because you like it? Personally I could care less what everyone else thinks about it...I like it and thats what matters. All cars become dated, its what happens when it gets older. A 67 looks dated too, but I still give one of my boys to own one
I have a 95 convertible that is in great shape and people still ask me if it is brand new. I think the C4, C5, and C6 were all "homerun" designs. Non corvette people have a hard time distinguishing what is new and what is not if you keep your car in the shape most of us do.
I love the C5 and hope to have one soon to go with my C4. The C6 is very cool too. TDB
