I will be changing out my stock intake for a dual cone system. MAM and other instructions mention disconnecting the neg battery terminal (due to the MAF sensor). Is it necessary? If so, what memory settings do I lose?
If you have a stock radio with security activated you'll need the code to unlock it. In addition to the clock you may lose the memory settings. I've done it many times and never lost the fob synch
Is it really required when changing out your intake?
any time major components are being replaced under the hood it's a good idea to isolate the battery. you never know when an errant tool might make contact with a energized connection. an ounce of prevention........

I never disconnected my battery when working on the air intake, but it certainly won't hurt anything. Just be prepared to reset things like the clock and maybe the radio if you do.

Good idea always for any type work---especially when doing exhaust work that requires welding--The 02 sensors often take a spike--I can't tell you how many cars & trucks i've tuned that had exhaust work done and the Computer got stuck in "open loop fault" mode--
