Notice that according to Edmunds.com during those model years, the C5and C6 Base Model Coupes were never tested for crash ratings by either the NHSTA or the IIHS....not even for the bumber bash testing. Anyone else have info to the contrary?

One thing it does say there is that "accident avoidence" are rated high. I know it's an obvious thing, but many people forget about it when they look at cars. They think bigger, heavier cars are safer. But you have to keep in mind, it's easier to GET into an accident in those heavy cars in the first place.
