It DOES look nice - like factory. Is that the Callaway Honker? How much did you pay for it? I see $500 mentioned as a price, up above. That just seems like a boatload of cash for a plastic air filter housing....................

It is quite a bit but the results are outstanding and the fit and finish speaks 1000 words. I don't have independent results because I installed it at the same time as my FAST 92/92 combo. But I picked up 40 hp with both. I am guessing the norm is 20 from the FAST and 20 from the intake. I paid slightly under 500 on sale.
Vararam takes hours if you're handicapped or killing a case of beer. It's also $260 shipped as I posted above, not the 300-400 he's talking about.
Their price has come way down after the Callaway Honker hit the streets and yes, the first time a non-mechanic does an install like this, it should take hours, not minutes. From what I have gathered, reading about many installs in this forum, misalignment of components and subsequent rework to correct such can add quite a few minutes to the total install time.
The other thing I warn about all the time is engine bay heat. plastic and rubber parts and coatings, as well as electronic assemblies are life-shortened as temperature rises. Blocking off cooling air to the engine bay is not good, IMO. having Vararam and headers is a recipe for premature failures over time.
I personally like the Honker better due to the quality and probably similar performance. The thing I really like about the Callaway is that you don't have to worry about upgrading your airbridge. If you're planning on keeping the intake (not going FI) than why not spend the extra few bucks for the Callaway.
Callaway Honker - $500 and highest quality
Vararam - average quality and Pita to install, this is what I run
There are some other like Vortex rammer.
If you are going to install an intake, go with a true cold air intake that draws air from outside the car and not from the engine compartment. Otherwise, why even bother.
I too installed a Vararam and It is definately a pain to install. You will become intimately familiar with the forward underside of your car, but I enjoy the wrenching. At age 68 & 3/4 it is getting harder to get up off that garage floor. LOL.

Not sure about the other brands but with the Callaway I increased the opening to the air intake 10X. When you remove the stock airbox you'll be shocked at how small and narrow the air opening is.
Go Callaway.
