Don't get me wrong, I love my car. I just see so much more information on the C6 and the C5 is starting to look dated to the public. IMHO

Not in my book

I think the C5 is one of those classic designs that will never age. Maybe thats why we all had such difficulty with the C6 in the early days.

I dropped my wife off at the stadium a couple of weeks ago and some college age kids asked me if my car was a 2009

I disagree. I still get people saying "nice car, is it new".

+1

I'm a student at UCF and my colleagues are all shocked to find out the cars 8 (going on 9) years old. I'm amazed at the way they hold up against the years..

Default 5 to 11 years new..........

What do you want in styling, something from the Jetson's. With the US government negotiating for a larger and larger controling interest in US three auto mfg'ers ( which is why Bush & Pelosi are waiting so long before investing in the auto makers), and Obama's engery policy doesn't cover increasing any diesel or gasoline production ( and OPEC is in financial troubles so oil production will be cut ) it looks like 'cars' like the GM Volt will be your comparrison. Style will be all you get though.
Which car will be your choice?[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

I get folks all the time amazed that my C5 FRCs and Z06 are not new cars at all.

c5's have got nothin to be scared of looks wise. IMO they are as nice if not sharper then C6's on the outside. Most would agree the interior with its updating is better on the C6 tho. I have an 09 and think next spring i will start looking for a black c5 (and keep both) so take that for what its worth. be safe, paul

They still think my 11 year old car is new! Drivers like me are getting dated, but not the car.

dated? lol yeah right. I constantly get a shocked look from people when they ask me what year my vette is and I tell them it's a 2002. Almost every response is "wow, I was going to say 1 or maybe 2 years old at the most" or some say "wow I thought it was new"

I've had numerous people asking to "trade" me cars out of the blue.

From the response, this car is just the opposite of "dated".

I have had people ask if my 96 vert was new

I think the condition of the car is what the general public see, a well maintained C5 will pass as new everyday to the general public. Hell my 04 still smells new

It never fails, I too am contantly asked wherever I go " Is that the new one ? " by the general public. When I reply " No, it is now 6 years old. " " Oh, Wow " is the most common response. So to answer opening post, No, I don't think the C5 looks dated, nor do the srangers that are compelled to ask me about in every parking lot I'm at. I agree, timeless, not dated is more fitting.

a couple things you can do to freshen up the look is to change out the lights.

many new cars come with HID projectors and LED tails. those 2 mods alone make the car look like a fresh design.

I Love my C-2s. But I think the C-5 is going to be a Hot body style for a long time to come.
I've had C-1s, C-3s, and C-4s. Alot of you may not agree with me but I just can't like the C-6s as much as the C-5s.
My wife has a C-5 Black convt, light Oak int., Black top. I put the 06/Z06 black powder coated rims on it and Love the Stealth look. It's smooth flowing lines are Awesome.
Just my $.02
