But seriously, it sure sounds like a short in the switch as mentioned above. But, we are sure glad to hear that you are alright otherwise, Liz. And, Happy Holidays to both you and yours, my friend!

Suggestion: give EG or Jason a call - offer them some egg nog (liquored up for Jason, plain for EG) and I would be amazed if they couldn't fix this at your house in less than an hour (only serve the egg nog AFTER the work is satisfactorily completed).
In any event - have a Merry Christmas.
How about with liquor for EG and none for Jason= one PO"d super high performance horn on it's way. Good Luck with the repair Liz.
I look forward to doing the same repair... mine went off just as I was driving though a security checkpoint at work. I got a lot of unwanted attention, needless to say...
Good Luck.

Edit to add: You need to disable power to the air bag system before trying to remove the steering wheel cover. Even with the battery removed, there is about 10 minutes of 'reserve' power in the main unit. Check your service manuals for more information.

Dear Mark,
I don't think I'll be tackling that. No doubt I'd be victim of this....
"So, if you decide to try this..try it at your own risk!!! Airbag deployment velocity is probably >300 ft/sec!!!"

Good call. That is exactly why I had the dealer change out my Steering Wheel Position sensor. I didn't want the risk of getting a 200 mph powder puff to the face.
