DIC going nuts
Well I was driving home and all of the sudden every light on the das to include the HVAC lit up and the DIC starting giving messages. All of the gauges with the exception of the spedd and tach stoped working. I checked for codes and this is the only (c) code. all of the rest are redudant or (H) codes. PCM-P1626 ???? Anyone know??
This morning coming to work it does it again and says tire monitor sys. active handling and lights up the dash again.
I just put a new red top optimabattery in two weeks ago. There was a small amount of leakage but did not look bad to me. I could be wrong. I am going to remove battery and tray tonight to look at it. I have searched other threads but can't find any that are an exact match for my problem. I love this car but it is nothing but an electrical night mare here lately.
Any insite would be great!!

Mine does the same thing everytime I have a problem with the battery... when I have a bad cell, or it's about to go bad, the D.I.C. starts giving me every error code you can think of....
It went real crazy once, and I took it to the dealer (under warranty) they found a bad ground.... apparently there's about 7 locations you can have a bad ground and it can cause similar probelms ...

don't know if this applies,but on my 2000 I had the gauges do the sweep and lights up periodicly.I figured that it had to do with voltage fluctuation so it was like starting the car again.I bough and installed new ignition switch and no problemo no more 
The switch was only about $60 from the forum vendor,also Bill Curlee has a good right up on fixing the contacts...good luck.

Bill Curlee also found a possible cause of DIC's going nuts in the door accordian tubes where there's a wire that can and will short to ground resulting in what you saw. Search his posts for great pictures of this problem.

I would also go back and check the battery connections and make sure they are clean and tight. Make sure any corrosion on the cable is fully cleaned off. Bad battery connections and bad ground connections cause some really off the wall errors and symptoms with any electrical component in the car.

I just had a new starter put on last week. I wonder if they got the battery cable tight. Hmmm!!! will check tonight while looking at PCM under battery.
Good tip. Hope that is it. I did notice come to think of it, that the thing went nuts when I turned the parking and driving lights off while going down the road. Wonder if it was a voltage increase or decrease it saw? I started it this morning and not long after it statrted (maybe a minute) it did the same thing. Does something kick on or off about that time??

Nothing kicking in unless you turn on the fan, radio or some other electrical resource. I would also check the cable to the starter since the starter was changed.
Vibrations from driving, changes in electrical loads etc could cause a loose/poor connection to make/break or even short the bare connectors in the accordian tube. Need to start looking. Guessing what is wrong can only go so far to help.

Good advice there. If you just had the starter replaced then all of a sudden this started, its a good bet that they didn't tighten the battery to starter connection. Don't forget that its electrically hot!

Ok, did the grounds on the front section of car. Still happened again about 15 mile out this morning. What grounds should have been the most important?? If you had to list them what order would you go? I did not get to the door tubes last night.
