Just as I believed. Officers may not get our check directly, but they DO benefit from citing folks.
DANGER!!!
As budgets get tighter and police payrolls get pinched, it makes me concerned on the motivation to push up the ticket count to fill the money void. There will be a real temptation to turn this into even more of a fund raiser!
No kidding.... Since money started getting tight here in California, I've seen lots of tickets being written lately. I've seen lots more CHP with Lidars out there and so on. Even the local towns, Leo's are writing a lot more tickets. The message there is that its not what we've been assured of all along that tickets are only written due to infractions of the law, rather, its money pure and simple.
Wink....Wink.....If ya' know what I mean....Wink.....Wink.
Well your certainly welcome to believe what you want but in my 15 years of law enforcement and the couple of departments I have worked for I have never had a chief or sheriff encourage anyone to issue citations! Check the Wisconsin statutes there are two laws, one that prevents quotas from being enforced and another that prevents officers from benefiting from citations being issued.
I have an officer in the family. If they write over the usual amount they do (Always being careful not to say quota) they get paid days off. That is a great benefit to the officer I would say!
That is pure BS.... tell me where that is and I will check it out. I have a personal friend with FBI and one who is a deputy US Marshall. All I have to do is make a phone call.

Most of the tickets I issue are non-traffic with the exception of DUI...Most of what I deal with is crimes against persons and property...(domestic violence, assaults, child abuse, drug and alcohol offenses, thefts, burglaries, etc)
We dont have a "quota system" per se....But I assure you if our traffic officers went a shift without writing a ticket they'd certainly hear about it....But to be quite honest...If youre a traffic officer (few calls for service other than accidents) and you can go an entire shift without without writing a ticket youre not looking very hard

Call Jeanie Mucklestone she is one of the best lawyers in Seattle for traffic Violations. Your insurance hikes will be far greater over the course of 3 years so just pay for a lawyer. She is 350.00 last time I checked and she has gotten all of my tickets (4) of them dropped. Once was Neg 2 ticket and she got that dropped as well. Pay her and forget about it.
