I am happy to say that I'm the proud new owner of an 01 vert. I wonder if anyone else has had this thought...... When you hit the button to open the roof storage compartment, the windows go down automatically. I asume so that the roof goes into place easier without interfering with the top edge of the windows. Has anyone found a way to put the windows back up without having to re-enter the cockpit to use the key inthe ignition. Honda has a great feature, turn the key in the door one way to unlock and the other to lock, but if you hold the key longer the windows also will go up or down. Just wondering if i'm missing something or is this an oversight on the design team..... hhmmm
I was blown away when I found out that I couldn't raise and lower my windows with the key fob. My wife's 03 Nissan Maxima will raise and lower the windows. Window Valet has gotten great reviews around here..
Another vote for the Window Valet. I'm a coupe owner and love being able to use it. I've had mine for several years with no problems at all. I agree that this is another feature that should have come standard on our Vettes.
I really have no idea why anyone wants the windows UP when the top is down. Puzzles me to no end!
I think you mis-read the original post. The sequence is:
- Pop lid (windows go down automatically, put top down
- Cruise
- Park car, put windows up
- Pop lid (oh no..windows go back down!)
- Put top back up
- Reenter car, put key in, and rise windows <--This is the issue
Windows should always be down when the top is down. Only nerds in BMW's, Porsches and Mercedes run the top down and windows up...
Like B.D.D. said, search for window valet.

Not exactly true. I often drive (in the winter) with my top down when it's well below 40 degrees f. Put the windows up, turn on the heat and it's almost like riding in my old 80 T top with the tops on...

True, and try cruising down the interstate at 70 plus and see how that feels. I always put my windows up with my Vette net and it's nice..
You have to go in the cockpit to latch the top anyway - so leave windows down, put the top up, latch & put windows up. How much time are you saving with a window valet, 10 seconds ? Technology for the sake of technology ! Geesshhhhh !! Just my 2 cents.

I've had a TDT Window Valet in my '01 vert for the few years I've owned it, and absolutely love it. I've met Michael, the creator of the gadget, in person when he came by to test out similar versions of the product on our Avalanche and XLR, and gladly will encourage 'vert and hardtop owners alike to buy his product and support his business!
The window valet is a great tool and will do just what you need. It was one of my first mods
As for windows up or down; to me it depends on the weather. In Vegas with 120 degree temperatures, the top was down but the windows were up and the AC on full to keep some cool air in the cockpit. In UK in Winter, the heated seats are on and the windows are up to keep the warm air in. If the weather is good then the windows go down.
As for looks - who cares. I'm now past that and I set the windows to suit me.

Another vote for window valet! Just press the lock button on the FOB 3 times and up go the windows. Three times unlock and the windows go down and my radio comes on!
