To those who say the police should have been called out to the accident, typically police will not show up to a minor accident unless someone is injured (or killed, but that almost never happens in a minor fender bender). What's SUPPOSED to happen is the parties are to exchange information and then contact the insurance company of the party at fault. In the case of a rear-ender (like this one), it's pretty clear who's at fault. An important thing to do, besides exchanging info, is to take pictures of the accident scene, even if it's just with a cell phone, so visual proof of the accident can be presented to the insurance company. I personally carry a compact digital camera with me everywhere I go, just in case of something like this, or if I see something interesting I want a pic of.
They will show up if they are not tied up. At least I know they will in smaller citiees.
I'd have called the police. Here-they come out even for minor fender benders. May take an hour, but they'll come out. Always a good idea do get a report. Hope you get her fixed up.
Oh Yea "in your case" you were rear ended, and most important , "it was not your fault"..you could physically have some issues from the accident down the road and also have your vette checked out by top notch body shop to ensure there is no damage underneath, or anywhere.. With fiberglass, it doesn't take much to damage, even a hairline crack that you may not even see might get worse down the road. Open the claim and only close when you feel it's appropriate for you not the insurance company or the person that unfortunately caused the accident. I had an accident recently similar, was rear ended , the dude was travelling at 40 mph per the cop on scene when he hit me at a stop light.in my Silverado..., .ouch So I can relate..unfortunately.
I agree,, call HER company and get it checked out!! I take my vet EVERYWHERE,,including Wally world and Sam's!! An accident can happen ANYWHERE,,just have to be as careful as possible!!
If the weather is good and you are at Walmart then it is okay to file a an collision insurance claim. However, if you are at Target when the weather is raining or may rain soon, then you are not supposed to file said claim. Good thing you guessed right.
This is some freaky stuff. I always hear that someone gets rear-ended or backed into when driving/parking around a Walmart, Jordan's Furniture, IKEA, grocery stores, or any other store mostly saturated with woman (no offense to CF woman). This is why I stopped going to these places or go at hours not considered to be peak times.
Her Insurance should have not increased due to the accidents because it was not her fault. Her rates increased for other reasons, how many hidden speeding tickets she have?

Check your rear bumper for fine cracks. My friends rear bumper got hit lightly and you could see spider cracks in the paint in all the areas that the rear bumper got hit. You will likely need a re-paint of the rear bumper.
Like others have said, get a body shop to check for hidden damage too.
You need to make the claim to cover the damage that is why we have insurance.
+1 I mean why wouldn't you pay insurance for a reason. I think it's bs cause if you don't have an accident year after year shouldn't I get something back?
Here-they come out even for minor fender benders. May take an hour, but they'll come out.
No they don't, not in Houston they don't. They'll ask if anyone was injured and if not, tell you to exchange information and file an accident report online. HPD doesn't have the time to investigate minor fender benders. Hell, my son's townhouse got broken into last year after Hurricane Ike and several thousand dollars worth of stuff was stolen, including a high-powered rifle, but were they concerned enough to come out and take a report? Hell no, they told him to just file a report online and that was it. HPD does not bother itself with minor fender benders, that's a fact.
