to put my 2 cents on this. same thing happened to me in my 01 z06. it would turn over but wouldnt start. ran the codes and it came back with p0335 crank position sensor. it could be that so check the codes. when u turn the car in the on position u should hear the fuel pump going on its a slight whine i guess.
and yes tapping the throttle while starting it only applies to carb not fuel injected vehicles.
