Most of us "old guys" always wave. When I pass a vette & he/she doesn't wave, I used to think they were too good to do so. I have found out that most vette owners that DON'T wave are simply new owners that have not been properly educated on the wave. After they finally meet up with more vettes, they will be educated on proper etiquette. I have also talked to a guy that is afraid to wave for fear that he will loose concentration & wreak the car. He said that he would just die if he hurt his "precious". GO figure.........
I mostly see C4s and C5s and those drivers wave. I have never had a C6 driver wave back at me. Anyone notice that? I was going through an intersection the other day and there was a white C6 sitting there. I waved at him and he just stared at me. C6 drivers too good to wave to a C5?

Maybe at Bowling Green they hang a tag on the dashboard (most people don't read the manual) notifying the new owner of the importance of the wave!

That's what most of us C4 owners thought of C5 owners a few years back.
It probably just comes down to new ownership vs having it for a few years. The new ones may just not know about it or just not care. Enthusiasts like most of us are do it because it's just another enjoyable part of owning a Vette.

They should have it in the Corvette Owners Manual!!
So new owners learn about the wave.
Yeah... I wave at all generations of Vettes. I've had 1 C6 wave back. I've had LOTS of C5s wave back already. I haven't really seen any C4s since I got my C5, but I'll wave when I do.
I was in my mom's M35 today, forgot I wasn't in the Vette (I don't know why) and saw a C5 pass by, instantly threw up the wave... Then realized the car I was in. I must have looked crazy.
Does anyone know when "the wave" originated in the vette crowd? I got my first Corvette in 1971 (a 1959) and everyone waved back then, even new owners. The trend sort of died out in the 80's and there was a big push to bring it back. Does anyone remember the "Save The Wave" t-shirts and stickers? I like one of the previous posts where someone said it should be listed in the owners manual.
Between the bike and the Vette, I'm tired of the wave-I rarely do either anymore. Cold days on the bike I'll wave at another brave soul but that's about it anymore.
