imxz28, just do it. When you use GM parts it is an upgrade. And, what's wrong with being a Z06 wannabe? I'd love to have one, but I'm married. My lady fills the coupe "up" on trips. Then starts throwing my stuff out to make room for all the stuff she buys. Plus, if the truth be known, I would never know what gear I was in with a 6-sp. So, I do the best I can with upgrades, and they do make a difference. Resale? The dealers have to steal it, its their job.

Hell yeah do it! If that's what you like go for it. I don't understand where some people come off saying that you'd be trying to fool anyone into thinking your car is a Z06. If that's the look you like then by all means, it's your car Good luck with it! Hey if you want to put the Z06 badges on too, then do it! If you want to put QuakerState stickers down the sides and over the hood, do it! It's you car, you paid for it. Whatever makes you happy.

Hey,I have flaired probably a half dozen Vettes.I once cut the washboard section out of a 58 hood, and then bondo'ed a 66 427 scoop to it. But the purpose of this forum is to talk. To this day, when I see a mid-year with flaired wheel-wells/6 taillights,I go look a it...but today,I look at something else.I look at a Z-06 after work...from the inside. The deal is done...and though it is 6:15 am...I am counting the minutes.
I know that you Z-06 owners feel good driving your cars. Many of you still get ,"butterflies",when you head toward your car.You think that there is no better feeling. But you are wrong. The better feeling is the day you are getting it.Yes, it is 6:27 now...and then it will be 6:28-9-30. Actually, there is no way I can avoid picking up,(hold while author composes himself...the girl from Ipanema go walking and when she passes, the ones she passes say ahh).O.K. I'm back. There is no way I can avoid..owning a Z-06 Corvette today.Gosh. :chevy

Heck yes. Its YOUR car so if you like the look, go ahead and do it! As a Grand Sport *and* Z06 owner, I come across clones all the time and frankly, that never bothers me as long as they don't try to claim they are something they are not.

Personally, I'd leave the Z06 badges off but again, that's your call. Customization done professionally and tastefully should not have any negative impact on the value of your car although it might not increase the value any, either. If YOU like it, you have to think there must be others out there that agree with you.

Life is too short... make the car into what you want it to be and let tomorrow worry about itself.

For me, the bottom line is that it's your car, so do whatever you like. Resale value is not guaranteed for these late model cars, so I don't think that's a factor, one way or the other. I guess my only feeling about the *ethics* of the situation lies within you. If your intent is to deceive others into thinking you've got a Z06, then it feels wrong to me. If you just like the look, then go for it. This also assumes you're adding functional rear brake ducts... the phonies would be ... well .. phony.

Do what you want, it's your vette. Chrome Z06 wheels look awesome on any vette. I'd leave the badges and brake ducts off though. Supercharger huh? 12-15 grand. Just buy the Z06. Bone stock turning 12.2's... :yesnod:

I just hope that you gals and guys understand me. I am pretty darn excited about this car.It is 11:53,and I only have 4 hrs left till Z-Day. Once this is over I will return to my normal refined self. When I bought my first Vette in 68,my clutch leg was shaking so bad that I thought everyone could see it. That will not happen today, but hey, that doesn't mean that the veins in my temples won't wriggle around like night crawlers being shocked. It is 12:00. I know how Job felt.

I would say you could argue that the rear ducting is functional. and the rims would look good, but I would never put the badges on there, then you are asking for it. Also a Z06 clone can fool ya sometimes look at black-ht 99frc. that car will fly and I'm sure some unsuspecting fool said oh look its a clone and got ripped. If ya do it do it for you not other people.
Right on brother. I did it all and even have the badges. I don't have any problem keeping up for some reason. This discussion came up a while back and it started a whole debate. Chris felt the pressure and took his badges off. I for one don't care either way. Do what you want. As far as people saying I have a fake Z06. I tell everyone I meet it is just a hardtop. You would not believe how many people actually think it is even though it is Arctic white and not Speedway white.

Thats why we live in a great, free country. You are free to be a "poser", if you so desire. So knock yourself out. Whatever type C5 you have keep the way it came. If you like the brake ducts, FRC, red caliphers, etc. buy a Z06. Me I love them all (stock). :yesnod:

If it makes you happy, do it. As for me, I don't care for the rear brake vents on any body style. However, the Z06 rims, screens up front, titanium exhaust, and red coated calipers look AWESOME! :jester

My wife began to think her deVille DTS Cadillac didn't have that certain something. To the rescue I installed a 911 Porsche Turbo whale tail and a RUF slope nose. Not satisfied I lowered the car 4 inches and put an AMG badge on the left rear trunk panel and an M5 badge on the right. To finish it off I put a couple of Ferrari stallions on the left and right front fenders.

Now, whenever I drive this car I get looks, and I know they are full of envy because (my wife's) ride is soooooo cooooooool....

Do whatever makes you happy and feel good inside.

I've seen some coupes and verts with ZO6 parts that looked pretty sweet. It doesn't offend me if someone goes that route. I think folks are just trying to get the most out of their cars and the Z has some features that would improve on the standard models. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Thanks everyone for your 2 cents. Several of you say to do the performance mods first.

I have given it lots of thought and agree... I'm setting the money aside for a Supercharger :yesnod:

The appearance mods are secondary :D
Waiting for Magnuson and Vortech.... I'll then have three choices :D

Do what ever you want to your car. Adding better parts to a car is not cloning if your not trying to pass it off as something it not. Some people buy a car at a certain performance state, others gradually get there or better it. If a guy with a coupe or vert finds a great deal on Z06 wheels or brakes he has every right to upgrade. If the 2003 Z06 has 30 more horses from a part my 2002 does not have, you can bet I would slap it on my car. Am I trying to be a 2003? I'm glad someone is trying to make there car better, its what "hotrodding", for lack of a better term, is all about. Lots of 67 vettes with BB hoods and small block engines out there. There not clones are they?
