maybe ya missed the bit where i said the performance of the C5Z06 is better?!?!
You said (as I quoted) that the C5Z was "not much" better in performance. IMO, there is a sizable difference, but that is to be expected considering the two platforms...
You have a great car and I hope you are enjoying it. I just wish the new pony-cars weren't sooo heavy, expensive and retro. IMO, it defeats the whole pony-car purpose/premise. Asides from the originals, IMO the only real pony cars have been the Fox-body 5.0 Stangs and the 4thGen (and late LB9/L98 3rdGen) F-Bodys. Cheap, light and fast/fun...

Thanks.. and yea.. they are a bit portly and expensive.. but I cant complain about the style..
As far as the Z06 not being much better.. with teh scale i'm using they arent.. I would say the c5z06 performs significantly better than.. say a 328 or an Acrua TL.. (my point is it depends how you define significantly.. its subjective).
its all perspective really.. I mean the difference between the SRT8 and the C5z06 is a similar step as the difference between the C5Z06 and the C6Z06.. and I consider all of those performance cars!
anyways.. your right they are completely different cars.. but if you enjoy the vettes.. you'll like driving the chellenger just as much!
thank god we all have these great cars!! it would suck to have just a vanilla transportation appliance.
I stomped an SRT8 in my (lightly modded) 92 ZR-1. It was even for about 50 yards, then he was nothing but a memory. It was funny cause I know he thought he was gonna beat up on an old C4...

I like the Dodge styling the best of the current three, but I am biased as I mentioned having owned a 1970 Challenger. Hope that your provides miles of smiles...
It's too bad that inexpensive enthusiast cars are dead. If GM had spent the time/money fixing the glaring faults of the 4thGen F-body instead of building a bloated, retro, mid-life crisis Corvette alternative, we could have a 436HP, 3350lb, $30Kish stud of a pony-car.

yea.. modded is the key word there..
stock for stock they are equal in performance - not bad for a 4100 lbs 5 seat full size muscle car!
Took one off the line at a red light and ate him alive. They're heavy, slugs of a vehicle. Too bad, because I think they look good. Dodge needs to take some weight off.

same thing here. I raced a 392, went from first and whooped to about 70. pulled a car and a half on him while spinning through first and part of second. Both of us have a catback, that's it. Later, Both of us were stopped at a red light and complimented each other on our cars
Had a 300C Srt8 Great car, alot fun ,Vette fast, no , now the jeep srt8 is a whole another story , there pretty dam fast, not sure where they stand , seen a few of them back up there talk , now the srt6 Crossfire is pretty fast seen them take out few C5 at the track and give C6 a hard time to time, nothing a Zo6 can;t take care of,
I never really paid any attention to the SRT6 crossfire but it would/should give a C5 a pretty good run. 330hp/310ftlb tq. 3250lbs. 0-60, 5seconds. Weight dist 55/45. Looks like a fun litte car, and its not an import, but I doubt it'll run with a Z06.
A good portion of the "Z06 Experience" to me is the driving "Feel". I didn't like my test drive in an '11 SS Camaro because it felt as heavy as it looked compared to my Z06. I view all of the muscle cars the same way - heavy cars from a previous era. I like the styling being in my mid 40's but still enjoy my Corvette's overall performance each time I drive it. Which says a lot since it is based on older tech from the 90's.

SRT6 is pretty much an import since it is basically just a rebadged SLK AMG. Almost every part has a Mercedes stamp/part number on it. Mercedes engine, transmission, rear end, suspension, etc...

And that's one reason why I love my ZR-1, unless you know what you're looking at, many just thinks it's another c4. I've had plenty of people think they were about to woop a c4, and I happily disappointed them.
And no, a SRT8 is not going to beat a Z06. They look cool, but that's about it, heavy pig of a car.

My wife got Crossfire Na and your on the money about it a being SLK , Fun car to drive
Bone stock I walked all over one that had intake/headers and exhaust. Now that I have intake, headers, exhaust and cam making almost 100 more rwhp than I was then... it's a slaughter. Those cars are absolute pigs.
There are 2 SRT's in my county, they dont deal with me ANYMORE. when I get in the passind lane they just move over wave and let be pass.
This past summer one of the SRT's tried to follow me into an off ramp, the guy had a hard time keeping up with me,his rear end wanted to dance..little *** tires
I've instructed for a couple of these cars and it may have been the first time I leaped out and kissed the ground at the end of the session.
