OK, so a young kid, maybe 20 years old, is bad mothin the ZO6. Says his Evo X would beat me in the 1/4 mile. His is stock and mine is also. I know they launch better due to the all wheel drive!

So who wins? All things being equal??
So a mid to upper 13 second car will beat the Z06? Not unless he is a better driver than you I'm afraid. Put a tire on the car and watch what happens to his AWD advantage My Z only has headers, exhaust, 160 stat, tune and a VR and heavy aftermarket chrome wheels and I run consistant 12.1 launching off idle. Stock to stock you are still on average a full second faster.
The Z will be faster assuming all things equal. I'm not sure what they can pull as far as 60ft times, but I have pulled a better 60ft in my vette on stock tires than I ever have in my WRX. Even if your launch is slighly worse than his the extra power you have should catch and pass him.
My wife has an Evo IX. The IX is a little faster (lighter) than the X and the best we've managed at the track with her car stock is 13.2 @ 104. While I think that's really impressive it's still not going to beat a healthy stock C5 Z06.
Yeah you can rev the Evo (did this once on a test drive with a buddy and no salesman in the car) to 4,000rpm and dump the clutch and listen to the whole dash (and car) pop loudly under the stress... not something you'd want to do often.
The awd might make the car quicker in the short run (with abuse on the drivetrain) but it can't hold a candle to a well driven Zo6.
Has import dude ever ridden in a Zo6 being driven flat out?
hes a 20 year old kid and probably has the fast and the furious mentality if he honestly thinks his car will beat you. dont even argue with him. just tell him to put down $500 bucks and meet you at the track!
I have not run my Z at my local track yet, that will have to wait until spring but my 89 Vette would run 13.2@104 and that was good enough to beat many Z06's and other C5's at the track. The Z06 will blow the tires right off it if you are not careful and don't slip the clutch of the line. I personally will have a set of DR's for track days but if you don't and you blow the tires of the car in 1st and 2nd like eveyone else i see run these cars you will have a hard time against a car that requires no skill to drive. I have a Jeep SRT8 talking smack to me about next year that could edge out my 89 and I always tell him my grandmother could drive that jeep. Same thing with the Evo. The Evo requires no skill, just rev it up, dump the clutch and don't miss a shift. The Z06 will beat the car hands down but you have to be a driver or have a really good set of tires to acomplish it. Good luck and smoke that rice burner...
THIS IS GREAT!!!!! I am 21 years old and have a buddy from basic (Air Force) who just got an SRT4, and he is sold that he'll spank my Z. He lives 800 miles away or we would of settled this by now. To the OP, being young myself, I can tell you (from what Ive seen, not personal experience) that it is fun to poke fun at the "older guys" with the faster cars. Plus everyone knows, if you have AWD, that automatically gives you a 9 second car.....just watch Fast and the Furious

Apexer I've driven just about everything and the evo is just as difficult to launch than our cars if not worse. Actually having awd, a small 4 cylinder w/ a turbo is frustrating. Either you bog the launch or slip the clutch too much, it's not the easiest car to drive. Once you get the hang of it, it's fine. However if you watch most evo or sti drivers, they launch poorly and are not consistent for that reason. The jeep, it's an auto w/ AWD and I'll agree it takes little to no skill though
From what I recall, the Evo X was a hair faster than the C5 coupes. The Z06 was WAY faster than the Evos by a long shot. You should be driving at least 1 second faster than this little kid's Evo. Let him bad mouth all he wants. REAL car guys know he doesn't know anything.
And real car guys don't bad mouth other car guy's cars.
Anyway, to put this kid in his place, if it REALLY matters that much, let him put him money where his mouth is.

Yea i can see that being that it is a stick...I have never driven one...It isn't going to spin though which is a killer for 1/4 mile times and i have scene a lot of Z06's both C5 and C6 run terrible times. I am not an expert driver. i am a little worried about my driving skills with the Z06. I don't want to be one of the guys with a 13sec Z. There was a guy last year with a C6Z with twin turbos that got smoked by a Neon SRT. He never even came back. He went off the end of the track and left the raceway. He ran a 13xx because of lack of traction. I don't know what his Horsepower was but I am sure it was an impressive number. Doesn't mean he can use it. My 89 was easy to drive, it had low horsepower and wide tires, it would spin a tiny bit and then just go, it didn't take a ton of skill to run it.
You won't come close to 118mph in the 1/4 as Joshua said in a stock car, but you will most likely run 112-115mph. You should have him by 10 cars lengths, or more.
