Default convertible ???

Hi

Are you happy with your vert or would you have been better off with a coupe?
Keep in mind l'm talking about a weekend ride and not a daily driver, and of course not the only vehicle.

Also what do you think is the best color combo and what is the worst and is there anything to avoid as far as options?

I have to get an auto and it's not an option because my wife might want to drive it all of a sudden but she has her own car and it's a vert.

Both vettes will be pristine and below 25,000 miles for sure.

Thanks

PS l will have a vert for sure

The wife and I use ours for road trips and I like to have the extra room I get with the Coupe. I can always take the top off but there is a little more cabin wind with the coupe's top off compared to the vert. When I was vette shopping we went out and drove both on a mix of city/highway and top on and off. Good luck.

That happens to be the best color combo for sure, isn't almost the same as the AE edition?

The only negative to a Vert is the need to install a roll bar for high speed events.... But if you don't plan to race it, there is no reason to get a coupe.

Good point l didn't think about it my wife's Audi (vert) has a roll bar system where it will come into play only in an accident or roll over.

Thanks

My 93's were coupes, the '01 is a vert.

Both are great, you might have a little more secure feeling in a coupe. But the vert is great too even as a daily driver.

I think the black top would be the easiest to maintain as far as showing the dirt. Oak and white, certainly more susceptible.

Only thing I didn't like about the vert was that it doesn't have a power top. The coupe is good because you can take the top off, but verts are very cool. I have a Camaro convertible and can't wait to get it out in warmer weather. Verts are great for getting tan and are a ton of fun driving on a warm summer night!

Sorry, l guess it's was a rough Friday night. I own an 02 coupe now in perfect condition, what l am doing is switching it out for a vert.

My wife doesn't like the C6 so that's not an option.

Thanks

Default Confused???

If you are only going to buy a vert why ask which people like best? I will tell you that with the vert. you are going to want to make some modifications to make driving more pleasurable.

#1 Read up on insulation to keep it as quiet as possible. That way you will be able to carry on a conversation and listen to the radio without screaming or cranking it up. #2. Separate the trunk and seating area. Helps with road noise and when the top is down cuts down on noise and wind.

As far as color it seems like a personal preference. I have the 2003 anniverasry color and get tons of compliments on it. It was the only one I wanted but have since seem some great looking cars on the forum.

Suggestion why don't you have your wife pick out the color and then get yourself a six speed. Again, a personal preference but I wanted a sports car and being old fashioned it had to be standard. Depending where you are going to be doing most of your driving also makes a difference. If I was doing the vast majority of my driving in heavy stop and go traffic I would probably feel different.

Lastly, and just to create some trouble. Being married we split everything 50/50 and it is no different with our corvette. I own the drivers side and my bride owns the passenger side. We have also agreed that if she wants one, and it would have to be an automatic, I would be more than happy to help her look.

Good luck.

Nothing beats a vert. with its top down on a beautiful day/night - except my Harley. If you're looking to track your car, a vert. isn't the way to go; think Z06. In addition, if you don't like attention, a vert. isn't the way to go.

Vert is the way to go!

We have a Targa and a Vert. Mine's the Vert. The Targa (C4) is a PITA. The C5 Targa's top is a whole lot easier to deal with, but the top is heavy for us delicate women to handle by ourselves

Go for the red!

If you are only going to drive it on nice sunny days then go convertible. My previous Vette was a coupe, the current one is a convertible and I enjoyed the coupe as much as the vert. I only drive my vette about 2000 miles per year, mostly sunny summer months to go golfing.

With the top down I am able to fit 2 fully stocked golf bags with room to spare. There is plenty of room back there.

Regarding the wind noise, it's a convertible, what do you expect?
It doesn't bother me when I have the top down. When I'm solo, I love to crank up the radio and enjoy the ride. When there is someone with me I have never had a problem the having a conversation.

No matter what you do, you can't go wrong.

Hi

I have owned vettes since 1964 with a small break when my two son's were of driving age. The minute they left l picked up another vette. All of my vette were manual except my 96 and now my 02. I also have had only coupes because l needed the space.
Now that the C5 has a trunk things are different. My wife has an Audi vert so l am aware of the noise and wind and my wife could care less.

As far as auto vs manual my wife cannot drive manual and she said that she would like that option. She controls the pocket book or l would be living in a trailer park.

How easy or hard is putting the top up or down?

Thanks
