G-force. My brother in law was a E.R.trauma doctor and always told of stories of people coming in doa with sometimes no marks at all, Basically you go from 60 to 0 instantly and all your organs just loosen up from were they belong.
Just saw our local news on this terrible accident, and the woman killed was a mother of 4. The youngest being only a few months old. She was in her 20's and was the cars seller. A pic on the news, showed the engine bay and the car was definitely boosted.
Tell you what....that "prospective" buyer who was involved in that accident is going to be at the very least able to get a brand new ZR1 with even the world's worst lawyer.
I used to work for Motorwerks in Barrington, IL which sells a ton of high end cars. There was a BAD accident where a salesman died from a customer crashing a brand new porsche turbo on a test drive. The family of the salesman who died sued the crap out of Motorwerks. They just recently settled for a couple million.
I was constantly asking customers to slow down. On one test drive the customer got pulled over for speeding and actually got a ticket. Needless to say they didnt end up buying the car. LOL!!
Sad to hear about the woman sales person but she REALLY should have known better.

what a load of shyt... like it was the companies fault it happened
People tend to forget how fast these cars will build speed. Especially if that car was an FI car. I know I suprised myself more than once.
They forget running at say 40 to 50 and they punch it 100 is only a couple of seconds away. And if the car was FI, it could have broken the rear wheels loose and she could have lost it there.
No matter it is just too bad.
If she was a dealership sales person she would not have had too much experience in the car. If she was the owner she really miscalculated.

Well he was at work, just like any job when you are on the clock the company is liable for your protection and safety...
Anyway Motorwerks used to be a cool dealership for the wealthy, or those in search of exotics... But, the last time I went by there maybe last month it looks like they have dropped a lot of the exotic cars, I know they still focus on that type of clientele but they have definently scaled back to the more common imports...
Anyway back on topic, looks like someone was trying to impress the buyer or show what was under the hood, too bad it was a foolish and avoidable accident and death... How soon we forget how bad things can happen when we are showing off... And I'm assuming from the location the speed limit is no where near high enough to account for that damage so they were not driving safely and thus showing off...
You guys should read some of the bloggers comments after the OC Registers article. Some folks just like putting Corvettes down Link posted by Dave above. Also, would a dealer (if this wasn't a private party) actually sell an after market/modded boosted car? I know ZR1's are boosted but that's a factory set up.
I test drove a '99 mustang with a procharger on it from a dealer a couple years back.
Even the best high-end cars and all the driving prowess in the world, can't avoid the simple laws of physics. Doesn't matter if its a moped or a Boeing 747, too much speed in the wrong circumstances will get people killed every time. True shame and loss for her family and that's the part we worry the most about. Does anyone know if she was a CF Member here?
My bet is the active handling system help cause the crash. Too much power with "A/H" leads to all kinds of problems.
Almost did myself in a number of years ago taking a turn quickly and dropping the gas pedal. Next thing I know the car is going beserk because of the "A/H" being exceeded.
When I ever I go out for some fun the "A/H" is off.
Real shame to see anyone get killed, especially a mother of (4). Condolences to her family and friends.

Yeah...most of the comments from those news sites are ridiculous. Any incident with these cars always grabs local headlines. Had this been a fatality on test drive in a frigging Taurus, the story would have been a footnote on page B the next morning...
I have followed these Corvette wrecks for 35 years - they are nearly all a one-car collisions with a "tree" or "pole". I have driven Corvettes nearly every day for 35 years and cannot even imagine how all these people pull this off. I am not saying I could not hit a tree if I tried, but I have never been that out of control on the street? I realize these things have a lot of power, but I cannot imagine the kind of person that pushes them to the limit on public streets - especially inexperienced Corvette Drivers!
When I got my first 1972 454-500hp Corvette - it was "easy" going until I tested its limits (with no trees around). It was several weeks before I even pushed my C5 even close too breaking the tires loose. I guess I should not be surprised though, most people I see around here that are buying C5s now seem to have a death wish?
Corvettes must hold the all time record for one-car collisions.

I bought a 5.0 stang some time last year, and the guy took me for a spin in the car. He floored it like you have no idea, and he was like "it's fast huh!" I told him that it was much more louder than it was fast. I don't really trust people driving fast because I know what I can do just by myself. Sorry to hear about the lady, buyer, and her family family.
