Anyways GM spent millions of dollars designing a world class sportscar for performance and people go and throw a big heavy wheel that slows it down, makes it harder to stop, makes ride comfort worse and also the handling as tr6speed said.......
Yes, and the fastest stock Corvette currently appearing on road courses is the ZR1....factory stock with 19/20" wheels.
Why on earth would GM do such a thing since 1997 technology is clearly the pinnacle of handling potential?

well in 1997-2004 that was the car was engineered for 17/18" as for the zr1 it has been engineered to handle with that setup and you can run that setup if you want since the zr1 wheels are not nearly as heavy nor are the tires as low of a profile and as for the for sale linkhttp://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Does it really matter? How many people are out there tracking their vette on any track at all? My guess is very few. Most drive it on regular roads and have fun with it. Wheels are an appearance mod, not a performance one. So who really cares if his wheels now weigh a few more pounds than stock. Your everyday person that sees a vette isn't going to come up to you and say, "why did you put those wheels on, they weigh 10 more pounds than stock". Most people couldn't tell you what a stock vette looks like, or the difference between a coupe and a Z06.

I agree it doesn't matter, it was just an opinion and some people like some don't and I understand that!!! I have a affinity for corvettes of all kinds I'm just saying this is not my taste and I don't agree with putting huge wheels on a corvette.... Like I said it is OPINION only and everybody has their own and I'm sure you can argue what looks good and what doesn't I was just posting it to see what everyone else thought not to get criticized for my opinion so sorry for busting anyones bubble.
Also I do agree you have people who purchase corvettes for their aesthetic appearance and to modify that appearance with big wheels, lambo doors, or hell neon lights or whatever and I can respect that too just not my cup of tea.

All I see now is a profile pic of the car from the outside, but it looks pretty good to me. While I don't care for the very low profile tires, the 20" wheels are pretty nice. Ran 19/20s on my '00 for a while.

. Wheels actually do make a difference in performance. Chevrolet made lighter mag wheels for the Corvette also. Some people may think, "aww those wheels are cute, I want those." However if they weigh 10lbs more each, then you better believe there will be some differences in how the vehicle performs.
I have repro wheels on my car and I am aware that they weigh more than stock wheels. However I also ditched the runflats also, so the weight difference should be very marginal. I fall into the category of "I just can't stay happy with stock" so aftermarket wheels work for me, plus switching to regular tires increased other aspects other than weight issues.
That car looks real good to me, and I bet it looks a whole lot better then some of your cars. Stop being so judgemental about every little thing on someones car.
I bet if Andy wheeler did it it would be okay.....
