I don't really see the big deal with the wheels and shifter. So, whoever owns this has different "taste" then you.. or me. There are some hideous 17"/18" and 18"/19" Wheel combination's that show up from time to time as well. BFD.
There are a lot of people that own corvettes. Many of them bought them for different reasons then you or I did. Cool.
Wheels are easily (maybe some what costly) changed. So is the shifter. As long as the car is sound, it's easy to "fix" to the next owners liking.
I don't care for 20" wheels on a C5. So, I just won't put them on MY car. I do not care if anyone else likes 20" wheels, or a tall shifter, or flames, or stripes.. or if someone thinks any change to a C5 is ugly... or any of the 100's of other changes that someone may make to the car that they own. Heck, I like Vettes lowered, but not "slammed". So, my car will not be slammed. I have seen pics of Vettes that are slammed, that I thought looked good! But, it's just not for me. I do like the fact that folks do stuff that I don't like to their cars and post it on the forum. I get to see and make that decision - saves me time/effort and possibly cost of doing something I would not like done to mine.
To me, some cars that have a lot of work to them look great and some don't. But, in the end it really does not matter what I think, it's not my car.
Fail on the op. That car looks sweet most people who don't like it are probably old farts living in the past thinking their stock c5 is king of the road. Go back to your eckler mag and see what new polish is out.

Calm down, I thing the desert sun and cactus juice is getting to you.
Alex, you missed the point, I know lighter wheels can make a difference in rwhp, so yes, it is a performance mod. What I was saying overall, most people could care less they lost alittle rwhp, they do it for apperance, not performance. Yes, in some cases, you will have that owner that will go out and buy the lightest wheels you can buy just to pick up that little extra rwhp, but that is very few people on this forum.
No, I got your point, I was just being nitpicky. You're absolutely right, I'd guess over 80% of the buyers buy them for looks as opposed to performance. Now if your buying forged wheels, even if you do buy them for looks, you're helping performance by default anyways

I like the looks, but I bet the ride is very harsh. But agreed, that shifter has got to go, way to tall, like driving a bus or something. Vette looks good with 20" wheels, I wouldn't do that on mine but not for looks more so for ride. Also the lower profile the tire the easier it is to being pinched in pot holes or curbs. My friend had 20" on a Mercedes, hit a pot hole and lost the tire and damaged the rim. Those were meant for race track, or a controlled environment not the streets.. Keep up the good work guys.
I recently bought my first Vette - 2001 with 20's on all four corners and lowered 2 1/2". I would have preferred a stock Z06, but couldn't afford one. This one had a price that I couldn't believe. The car turns heads everywhere I go, but the ride was horrible! I've raised it up and it handles much better. I originally planned to ditch the 20's for some Z06 wheels but now that is on the back burner. I actually like the look of the wheels on that car as well...
But the shifter, well it does look like it took Viagra.
It seems to me that if the car bugs you that much you should just buy and change it. It took me about an hour to get rid of the stock shifter and go the aftermarket one I had. Its a bit low for MN since our roads are just one continuous pothole.
