Having spent over 25 years in the automotive aftermarket I can tell you a dirty little secret, there's only 3 or 4 companies that make oil filters and they all package them for other companies.
I have always used Wix, they are a primary manufacturer and their product is in the majority of filter boxes out there including Napa and CARQUEST. Fram is also a primary manufacturer and you may very well be getting one under a different name and don't even know it.
You're more than welcome to run them! I just want to spend a few more $$ and get something made with quality parts. Fram used to be good, way back in the day; when was this Toyota van running those filters?
I've been using K&N on all of my cars that I've had and never looked back. I've been thinking about trying the new Royal Purple filter, but haven't found a place around my area where they sell it.

Why you ask...
If you look under your car the nut on the bottom of the filter is lower than any part of the car and was told it can hit something and you will lose all your oil, Makes sense to me....
I looked at one and he was correct.
Yes I have heard this before now that you mention it. Big reason why oil filters are just not hanging below the engine.... Think of it when is the last time you saw a factory filter hang low where it can easily get damaged?

I use the Fram Extended Guard, it's a very well built filter and when on sale up here it's the lowest price of all the premium filters (such as K&N, NAPA Gold, Wix, Carquest Premium, etc.)
I'm not a fan of the new AC Delco design, they now use what is known as the ecore design, which does not use metal endcaps anymore and the center tube is now made of plastic. I've seen a few of these filters cut open and there were problems with them (torn media, damaged center tube, etc.) So the newest AC Delco filters sold out there right now are not the same quality as the ones that originally came on our cars!
Wow, I'm surprised I'm the only one recommending Purolator. They're a very good filter, kinda spendy but oh well. I don't put enough miles on mine between oil changes to really matter, I suppose.

I never thought about them for my C5, but found some on closeout for one of my other cars for $2 each
I use AC Delco now, but switching to Wix next oil change.
I use either Wix#51042 or Pure One PL14006.I believe the Pure One has a slight edge for smaller particle filtering and the Wix has a slight edge for better flow.Pretty much a toss-up.
I use Mobil 1 or K&N. Depends on what was on sale. Advance Auto and others run specialls on Mobil 1 oil and filters a few times a year. I just stock up when they run them on that or K&N.

I buy my WIX filters online in sets of 6-12 at a time.
Even after shipping they are less than retail.
