Default Exaust performance??

Hry guys, I am new to the site. Got my first Vette 2 mos ago. I need an exaust system. Seems like Corsa or borla is the way to go... my question is, is there really horse power gain with these systems? or is it just about sound. Im also gonna get a new air intake ... any suggestions would be nice

If you are going to do any serious mods like Head/Cam and headers/x-pipe-catless, go with Ti Zo6 exhaust. Alot of the aftermarket exhaust systems are to loud with these kinds of mods and they have bad drone.
Goodluck!

I can't give you a number gain, but after my install of the Borlas, i can tell there is a difference. The only other thing i have done is the dual cone air intake, looking to switch to a vararam probably this weekend. Just get the vette inhaling and exhaling better, you are going to notice a difference over stock! I think its funny now at acceleration out of the neighborhood, i can see people looking to see what is coming their way, lol! If you rev the engine with the Borlas and someone is talking to you, i hope you can read lips!

You won't be gaining much if at all with a catback, but they sound great. I vote for Borlas

I went with a custom straight pipe setup. Honestly its only loud during acceleration. I picked up 2 tenths in the 1/4.

The gains with most catback systems are just looks and sound.

Check out my sig for horsepower gains from just an intake and cat-back. Most of the gains comes from the intake but with a cat-back installed, you won't have to worry about choking your engine, should you decide to supercharge in the future. A stock exhaust is too restrictive for an engine that is pumped up more than 100 HP.

Also, if you live in CA, skip any pain-in-the-butt-to-install stuff that is not smog legal, as you will have to remove and install it every two years. My intake can be swapped out in 20 minutes and with my cold air modification, ingests ambient air at all times except when my car is not moving at all. Almost all cat-backs are excluded from smog laws. However, the extreme-sound ones can be illegal.

Long tubes and straight pipes could be 7-10 rwhp.

But mufflers are only sound

Mufflers or cat backs are only for sound. ( Cat back = Catalytic converters, X-pipe, over the axle pipe and mufflers )

Long Tube headers and a dyno tune ( plus other modes) are where the HP would come from

Of course, if you already have a supercharger or turbocharger and swap from a stock exhaust to an aftermarket cat-back like Borla Stingers, you will gain HP. LPE gained more than 40 HP after swapping out the OEM exhaust.
