My driver's side low beam light failed recently. I discovered that it was actually the resistor that had burned out (I disassembled the resistor; something on the circuit board inside the housing was fried). I removed the resistor and plugged the harness directly into the ballast; both lights now work and the headlights go up and down perfectly without a resistor - I won't bother replacing it.
Hmm . . . gonna have to give that a try.
I'm sure Michael is working diligently on the shrouds.
i'm still waiting to receive them from the last group buy
Martin, all the Group Buy parts are assembled and awaiting Hella to send me the balance of Hi beam projectors so I can complete them. Have for some time now. I honestly can't tell you why they've taken this long.
I wanted to follow up what JW posted, Hella said they would let us know time frames asap. Please feel free to pm me personally if you'd like to discuss more...

Not dead Lou. Far from it.
The summer fire season has severly limited the free time I've had to work on them, but I will say...
....you're gonna like the results!

What little time I could spare...
Thanks Ed.
Hey JW, I believe my driver's side low beam has gone out. I haven't had a chance to check yet, but I didn't see it reflecting in the cars ahead of me on the commute home. Kind of a bummer since I've only had the lights in for a month or so. Anyways, how much and how soon could I get a replacement for it if it is burned out?

Is it the same side that you installed the resistor on? If it is, try removing the resistor and see if the light turns on. A few others (including myself) had this same issue.

is there any way whatsoever I would possibly be able to buy all the hardware minus the Hella pro's you guys have been outfitting these kits with? I understand this setup was designed using the Hella's and parting with an "incomplete set," might not be possible.
I've been wanting to create my own setup and I can't get passed the quality and craftsmanship that's gone into the necessary hardware. Allowing someone to snag the equipment and DIY a set of dual bi xenons, or a single bi xenon with an LED inner bulb setup, I mean the possibilities are far from limited. I think you might be able to make some money for those who are willing to do it themselves you know?

Just a thought.
nvusgt, thanks for the post.
I'm not a vendor on this forum so all sales are JWMotoring.
Interestingly, I have already patterned the FXR Bi-Xenon and one other USDOT Lo beam projector and am considering others too.
I've also been patiently waiting a forum member working out the power needs for a high powered LED system that would lend itself quite well to the lower opening headlight heights.... Possiblities are indeed far from limited.
What were you thinking?
We have sold parts of the kit separately in the past. How 'bout you pm JW what you're planning and we'll see where that goes???

will do, thank you for your reply.
As for the leds, using a bi-xenon pro, I was thinking of keeping the inboard area projector free and use that space for a row of leds (with a light diffusor so you cant see the individual led bulbs and not completely horizontal, but at a slight angle). As that row meet up with the projector outfitted with a bigger shroud (cut at the top to fit so the bottom is still round) the led/light bar would follow the bottom contour of said shroud.
And for those not able to visualize this, I suppose it might look similar to this:
I understand some people don't like the Audi led headlight treatment, but there's a good number of folks that I think would be very interested in this setup. But one important thing to keep in mind, a light diffusor, be it acrylic, or other material has to be used to avoid seeing individual leds. That's a must to keep this setup looking different than 90% of the crap after market led headlights out there. To be honest, a solid strip of continuous light would look SO much better anyway.

So, is there any estimated completion date for the shrouds?
