Very cool - awesome job after a huge amount of work. Thank you for your perseverance.
How's the fit around the lights; did you have to do much adjusting? If so will there be issues with re-aligning after fitting the shrouds? I can see having to do a bit of back and forth to get it right.

I was pleasantly surprised I didn't have to trim anywhere to get the shrouds to fit after fitting to the original assembly and the other lid.
I left the original projectors adjusted exactly as I removed them so for them to fit so well to a different assembly confirms were closer to what we need.
I think the gap around each projector is close to what we talked about...
I might even up the reveal so the same amount of bezel is showing...

Reason: Are we close to that photoshop or what!?!
I think these low opening lights look great and would love to have a set if and when they become available, but 1 question. How do they hold up at speed, like over 120 mph and open. I would hate to have them come apart at speed at night. Just wondering.

I'm not going to tell you how I know this, but they hold up just fine.
We've never met, but all props and a quick shout out to Morlock! ...you know why.

Me Too!!!!! ...just under 150mph+/- without shrouds.
I'd like to test then up to the cars rated max speed, you wouldn't have access to a wind tunnel would you?
It's been awhile but this actually came up during r&d.
The original set of lights I purchased to start all this were from a German company and had composite plastic pieces that replace white plastic bumpstop that the motor lever arm stops against and changed the stop point to a lower height. One of those cracked at high speed (140mph, +/-) and the whole bucket lifted noticably. Prior to the piece failing I could see the light pattern dance/raise as I got faster, seemed the wind pressure was flexing the plastic stop under load.
Once this happened I knew it needed to be a more secure way of keeping the lid from lifting and that's when I started back engineering the current stop plate/stabilizer bars. Others have engineered an over-stop/over-center system that mimics the orginal OEM and I applaud them. However, I felt the way I did it was easier for the average owner to install and still be able to return the system to OEM if wanted.
Thanks for the nice words and good question.

I was just wondering who is driving at night at 120+....but I see at least some do...
Looks like I'll be selling my car soon. I put in a deposit on a C7. If the next owner buys my car without all the mods, I'll be putting these lights up for sale. (Shame, really. They get a lot of attention here. LOL)
Any updates or time frames? I was in the first GP so I'm looking forward to the shrouds.
We're close! I still have some minor fitment issues to work out but they are shaped and primered.
I'm having minor fitment issues both between the lid and shroud and then in working the lid/shroud into position to attach them to the assembly. I'm working to get the reveal gaps even at the lid, enough clearance to install but not too much of a gap at the bumper when open.
I'll get pictures up this weekend once I've worked most of this out
Have a great holiday everyone and let's remember what we are celebrating this weekend...
