Sorry I mis spoke. People said they were worried about rain getting in there. From what I understood was that projectors were sealed. Thanks for clearing that up. You verified what I had thought when I saw people saying they were worried about rain and bugs.
The projectors may be sealed, however I'm not sure I would like to drive through the rain with the other electrical (ballasts, wires, etc.) being exposed through the openings in the light well. I would love to see an acrylic shroud that would show the cool workings and engineering of these lights!
just curious. What about something like this. now I know these guys are composite experts and can build the car to have these headlights. My main question is how are they doing this without any covers on these projectors. I seriously thought of doing something like this but it seems that you guys are running into problems with them being exposed. I appreciate all the hard work you guys are doing, just thought I would put up some food for thought and see what kind of answers I could get out of the smarter people around here lol.
BTW one of my dream cars if I had the $$$
I realize the slope angle is way more extreme on these super cars, but couldn't something be done. Like I said, just wanted to keep the discussion going till I buy a set. or furthermore, till I CAN buy a set.
I've always liked the Zonda too. I shopped the lights on my car to see what they'de look like.
The beauty of this mod is that the pop ups remain. That was my original goal in purchasing my ACAs. Honestly, 90% of my Corvette driving is during the day so I wanted to maintain the stealth look of the lights being hidden when not in use. That was why in 2004 I chose the last of the C5s instead of a new C6 as the exposed lights had not yet grown on me.

Well considering they dodnt give you much wire you kinda have to mount your ballasts etc near the lights. I have my ballasts mounted with a bracket on one of the bolts that holds the lights in place and im sure water hits it and the wires all the time. I've had HID's on the Vette for over 3 years now and no issues
Any updates on when the last of the "test sets" are going out?
I should have the hand mods to the stop plates finished by Wed-Thur, Jim.
They can be on the way to you by the weekend.
I'll be looking for your feedback on the stop plate installation.
JW will more than likely get the first production set of those (yours to follow...) so he'll be interested, too.

Why were you covering the beams? What material is that? I didn't realize that HIDs get hot. Although it'd make sense since they're called High Intensity Discharge lights. LOL Too bad they don't have LED type replacements yet.
When aligning the lights individually, it's easier to cover the other light so you're only looking at one beam pattern. The instructions say to cover one light whilst adjusting the other. Although I didn't burn a towel in doing so (it takes less than a minute to adjust one light), I will make adjustments to the installation instructions mentioning this. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, jrc.
Will do The install was pretty straight forward. The hardest part was getting the stops in the right position so that the headlights opened to equal distances.
I did have minor fitment issues on my stop bracket but it seemed to only on the passenger side. The bottom of the new bracket was hitting the original stop tab so it stopped me from beaing able to adjust the new stop tab. Easy fix with a die grinder. Also on both sides, the headlamp pivot arm was hitting the new stop tab (the outer portion of the new stop tab). Also an easy fix with the grinder.
The last issue i had was with the HELLA adjustment screws. The ones on the top, closest to the pivot arm were hitting the headlight mounting bucket. That's also and easy fix...you can shorten the screws, you can back all three of them out equal distances or you can "make room" for them.
The only new issue i can forsee is when the shrouds get made. They are going to be based on one set of lights and i'm sure all of our lights aren't installed the same (ie left to right position, top to bottom position and front to back position) so it will be interesting to see how much tweaking will be required to make them fit.
The HELLA's that i took out had the H9 bulb base, so i went ahead and threw them in the HI beams to see what they will look like on the back roads i take to work. If any of you guys know the easiest way for me to get all 6 HIDs on at the same time, i would appreciate the help.
Nice! Wish I had my vette here so I could play with mine more. They truly rock. When I had them side-by-side with the wife's ACA's, they definitey projected a nicer/brighter beam even before I did any adjustment.
