Again being young you'll probably want to cruise around with friends, lol well with the Vette you can only take one (which might be good) I sold my 600+ hp 03 Cobra a couple years back and I still miss the car, one of the few cars actually that i've had that I miss. I sold my 700+whp Vette a little over a year ago and dont miss it at all. You might want to look into ionsurance as well assuming you're paying it. Either way you can't go wrong, but if it were me id take the Cobra.
Get the Mustang so that you could possibly get laid in it. It is high school, after all.

According to your profile you are 15 years old. Can you get your license that young?

Ok, listen....I'm not saying you can't find someone (obviously you) who had a mustang that had a problem and then had a vette that didn't. 1 persons experience does not establish a reputation, on what grounds do you think my statement is wrong? You'd be foolish to argue that the c5 has a better rep in terms of mechanical reliability and build quality as a termi. I'll say it again, the mustang is a more reliable car, it is rather commonly known that the c5 can have little issues, I don't know why you'd argue that. Not that the thing is going to explode or anything but for a high school kid that wants to get in and drive without having multiple cars available in case of downtime it needs to be considered.

wow dude, you need to have your head examined. I retract everything I said and should advise you don't get either one. Have you even taken a second to realize what will happen in the event you get into an accident? You parents money, property, everything they worked for in life could be gone. Period end of story. Shame on your mom for letting that happen and shame on you for putting your parents and presonal future in jeapordy. You obviously are not ready for the responsibility of a high performance car.

If you get caught, you won't be able to get your license until you're 18. Be careful

The stang will also be cheaper for you to mod, should that be a criteria. I know being in high school money is tight. And trust me it doesn't take much to extract ALOT of extra ponies from the termi.

Now if you're comparing the termi to a zo6 that would be a hard decision. but vs c5, no brainer to me.
I have to disagree with this reply.
I feel the build is way better than the Mustang. Hands down.
47,000 miles on my Vette and trouble free. I say that is reliable.
Insurance will be cheaper in a Vette.

I have realized what will happen especially since I was 2 feet from getting hit by a drunk driver driving a truck at 80 mph 2 days ago. And I have to drive by myself because my mom is disabled and cannot take me

It's your money, drive them both and decide which one "really turns you on"! THEN, buy the one YOU want, not the one recommended by a bunch of forum members.

Relax dude. I'm not "arguing" anything, and I am certainly not "foolish". I suggest you watch your words. If you can't, then maybe you should find your way back to one of the rustang forums where those who can't maturely handle opinions different from their own hang out. One of the things that I've always liked about this forum is that 99% of those who post here act like adults. Posts like yours seem to be much more the norm on stangnet and the other rustang forums, which was reason enough for me to stop frequenting those sites even when I was still a rustang owner & enthusiast.

The OP asked for opinions and I gave him mine. You may not like it but that makes it no less valid. I had two mustangs before the bad one, and both were decent cars. Not great cars, but decent enough. I wouldn't have factory ordered a new one if they'd been pieces of crap. But, given that the last one was a total piece of crap, it's likely I'll never own another one and it will probably be a long long time, if ever, before I buy another Ford product. That's just the way it is. You can take it or leave it, I don't really care. And it wasn't just that the 07 Mustang GT was a colossal POS. It was also the fact that as soon as the generous 36/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty expired, my Ford dealer's interest in assisting me in resolving the problems, all of which were documented when the car was still under warranty, was zero. Quality sure was Job 1! Yeah, right! Sorry but I smell

Remember, you were the one who brought up the issue of build quality in the first place by stating (and I quote) "I feel the build quality is a little better on the stang (body gaps, interior plastcs, switches, etc) Plus I feel the mustang is more reliable."

Based on my experience I feel differently, therefore I disagree. It's not the end of the world. Get over it already.

Exactly what makes your think that your opinion more relevant than mine? How many rustangs have you owned and for how long?

I'll say again to the OP. In the end a Cobra is still just a mustang. Do you want to drive just a mustang or do you want to drive a Corvette?

how about a "Cobra Truck"? You can pick up a pristine low-mileage SVT Lightning for 15k, and you don't see 'em every day....

I don't care for the interiors in the Lightnings. I like suede, but the way ford did a lot of suede with little leather just looks strange. If they did the seats like the cobra then I would reconsider

While I understand that none of the Mustangs I owned would compare to the one that you considering, I will tell you that there is nothing like owing and driving a Corvette. If you're not concerned with the fact that you don't have a back seat (not necessarily talking about the capability to haul additional passengers), my recommendation would be to get the Corvette. At the end of the day, a SVT Cobra Mustang is still a Mustang, and a Corvette will always be a Corvette.
You know ? Something to,,, at his age Marine one he has to think about the women. He might not can handle the pressure. That vette is sure going to draw then but then all men are not created equal. Might be more than the boy can stand.
Might better stick with the mustang OP.........................

Funny! When I was 17 my Dad let me trade my VW Bug for a 62 MGA. The MG was in near perfect shape. I could never figure out how or why the old man let me do it. Years later he said, "you ever hear of anyone getting a girl pregnant in one of those things?"

Neither! A high school student shouldn't own either of these cars. From what I can tell from the celebrity remark, I think you'll only get in trouble.

Much too irresponsible. Driving on a permit without a licensed driver in the car. Shows total disregard for the law. You better hope that you don't hit anyone. Your mom will lose everything that she has and you won't get a license for a very long time.

The C5 has way more potential with the LS1 over the 4.6 Litre Mustang motor even with the Supercharger -

The LS1 can have a bolt on Supercharger package and get 550+ RWHP easily - with a few minor upgrades you can have much more.

I suggest doing a search on Youtube on the C5 Vs Cobra Mustang and see what usually happens

Mustangs are okay but the overall potential of the Vette over the Mustang is huge!

Thanks,Matt
