I suggest doing a search on Youtube on the C5 Vs Cobra Mustang and see what usually happens

Mustangs are okay but the overall potential of the Vette over the Mustang is huge!

Man....I seem like the bad guy here in this thread. I love my vette and all but then again, it's as far from stock as humanly possible. Here is another wrong piece of info. By potential your obviously referencing hp. A stock termi block will hold down WAAAYYYY more power than an ls1. It's not even in the same ballpark. A stock termi can hold down 800hp all day long, in some cases up to 1k STOCK. I know, I have one and additionally know probably a dozen first hand from friends that are between 800-1k. There is no way I'd be making close to the 1k I am on my vette with a stock ls1. I had to spend considerably more to get my vette where it's at because of the need to do a fully forged 408 to make that type of power. They're not even in the same ballpark. Furthermore, you can get a cobra 500+ rwhp for pennies compared to the suggestion you made of blowing the c5.

I'm not ******* corvette's. I have one, and love it. But you are comparing what is one of the best most durable out of the box musclecars made in recent times. Not many cars out there made I can think of where you can almost triple the hp without digging into the block. And extract more hp so cheaply. Heck, just a pulley change tune and presto....big power

The reason that you give for breaking the law does not matter. The fact is that you are breaking the law. Speed limit 65 and you decide to do 150, is that ok too?

I own a 02 c5 and my wife drives an 04 GT Mustang. They are just different cars. The Vette is lower and has a better suspension from the factory. It drives more like a sports car should. My vette has cheaper insurance then my GT and gets better MPG. I think the Vette is more comfortable, but it is harder to get in and out of. Wife thinks the mustang is more comfortable. Lot's cool gadgets in the Vette, but each costs $ to fix when they have issues. I've always wanted a vette, and my wife has always wanted a mustang; I prefer my vette, she would prefer the cobra.

The mustang has a better stereo. The exhaust sounds better and is much cheaper to mod additionally, our mustang has had less "issues". In the four years I've owned my mustang, all I've had to do is replace an alternator and battery. In one year that I've owned the vette, it has had a window motor issue, steering sensor failure, an EGR relay issue, EBCM issues, LED issue in HVAC unit. I also have to add a CLB thing to prevent the steering wheel from locking up. The Vette is cooler, parts seem to cost considerably more than any vehicle I've ever owned (Harley Davidson included).

My opinion....be prepared, you won't like it.

If I were you, I'd keep the newer, reliable car that you already own. Then after you start making enough money to actually cover ALL of your own expenses, buy the car that makes you happy. Earning your own way has huge benefits down the road, more than a fast car today. This is how people end up with huge credit issues. They have to get something today even if they can't afford it. Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose.

My mustang isn't that reliable. I have had to fix cruise control, passenger side mirror, tires and wheels fixed, traction control fixed, and now have a tear in the leather. All this at 66,000 miles. I may take your advice and wait till october when I get my job at a dealership my aunt used to co own and start making $4,000 a month and use that money on college expenses since I'll be going to college after this coming school year

Get the Cobra.

You sound like you want a car for a status symbol. I think Vettes should be owned by people that like cars and can be appreciated for what they really are. The SVT has a fully built engine that will last forever and a day if it's un-modded. The Vette must be cared for by someone that likes cars and knows how to care for one.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but I'm not going to impose my opinion of liking the Vette on you just because I personally like it more. The Vette REQUIRES more maintenance and work at the same time as it requires a lot more attention to detail. Considering that you're coming from a V6 Mustang and you seem to care about looking like a celebrity, I'm sure I'm not too far off when I say you probably don't know what is actually involved in the up-keep on either of these cars. Also, parts for the SVT are going to be a LOT cheaper to replace than on the Vette... Aftermarket mufflers alone cost $1,000.

Just my 2 cents.

I consider most of the people on this forum Corvette folks, not car guys. To mention a Mustang or some other make of vehicle here (whether by someone young or old) is an insult to their manhood.
