I'm selling my 2006 mustang v6 pony package. I'm in between buying a 2004 mustang svt cobra and a 2004 corvette, both are $15,000 and have 80,000 miles. I'm leaning towards the vette cause I'll be like a celebrity since I'm in high school, but I'm also leaning towards the cobra cause it has more horsepower and aren't that many where I live. This will be a daily driver. Which one do you think I should go with?
I drove the c5 vette through my senior year it was awesome. Except no backseat, paranoid all the time, and worlds worst party car. Not the most practical car but wouldnt trade it for anything!!!!! (th vette will make the mustang feel like a focus in terms of handling)

At the end of the day it would still be a Mustang.
Park them side by side and the Vette will get the wow factor.
The Vette can and will out handle the Mustang.
One good thing about the Ford is that they knew where the prob was and circled it.
15,000 for a 2004 Corvette ?.. it must not be much of a Corvette,,, Go with the mustang.... you can buy a half decent mustang for 15.000 but the 2004 C5 must be junk for 15,000...

With 80 grand on the clock and the way C5 prices are droping, this may not be too bad of a vette

I'm not sure I'd agree with this thought process. It doesn't have to be junk to be $15K

I was just thinking, "If I could find a decent '04 for $15K I'd have it for a second car...."
Well of course on a Vette board everyone is going to tell you to go with the Vette. However if it wasnt a C5Z I would go with the Cobra. Yeah at the end of the day it's still a Mustang, but it's one bad Mustang. I dont know what your money situation is, but Vettes are not cheap to mod like the Cobra would be. Again being young you'll probably want to cruise around with friends, lol well with the Vette you can only take one (which might be good) I sold my 600+ hp 03 Cobra a couple years back and I still miss the car, one of the few cars actually that i've had that I miss. I sold my 700+whp Vette a little over a year ago and dont miss it at all. You might want to look into ionsurance as well assuming you're paying it. Either way you can't go wrong, but if it were me id take the Cobra.

That's what one of my concerns was, the cost to mod. I don't care much about cruising with friends and most my friends are girls so less people the better . My mom is paying for insurance and everything else needed. I have to pay for mods though so that's a plus on the cobra side. I like the corvette though because it has like 22 cubic feet of trunk space while the cobra has like 12 cubic feet of trunk space

Lol, well if most of you're friends are girls you can fit more in the Cobra The seats fold down on the Cobra as well if you needed more trunk space. Sounds like you really want the Vette though, if thats the case get it, again either way you cant go wrong, just save a bit longer to mod it thats all.
Over the last ten years, I've owned the following:
-1995 Mustang GT Convertible, purchased March 2000 with 29,000 miles, sold November 2002 at 85,000 miles
-1996 Mustang Cobra Convertible, purchased October 2002 with 36,000 miles, sold September 2006 with 79,000 miles
-2007 Mustang GT Convertible, purchased in September 2006, currently for sale
-2003 50th Anniversary Corvette Convertible, purchased March 2010, with 11,500 miles, now with over 18,000 miles
While I understand that none of the Mustangs I owned would compare to the one that you considering, I will tell you that there is nothing like owing and driving a Corvette. If you're not concerned with the fact that you don't have a back seat (not necessarily talking about the capability to haul additional passengers), my recommendation would be to get the Corvette. At the end of the day, a SVT Cobra Mustang is still a Mustang, and a Corvette will always be a Corvette.
Knowing your in high school and currently owning both the cars your looking at I'd say the cobra. I feel the build quality is a little better on the stang (body gaps, interior plastcs, switches, etc) Plus I feel the mustang is more reliable. The stang will also be cheaper for you to mod, should that be a criteria. I know being in high school money is tight. And trust me it doesn't take much to extract ALOT of extra ponies from the termi.
Now if you're comparing the termi to a zo6 that would be a hard decision. but vs c5, no brainer to me.

I completely disagree. I'm currently a Corvette owner because my last Mustang was a total POS.
I've owned an 03 Cobra... Awsome car to say the least. Hope your able to pay the insurance on a Cobra...My C6 insurance was less when it was new than a used Cobra.... I'd say hold out for a high miles Z06...
