absolutely true..i had to go over a ginormouse hulk of a speed bump in a narrow alley way at a bar and i ended up scraping my rockers...but it doesnt matter anymore because of as discussed in another thread i started a dealer is replacing both my rockers because of damage they caused

I believe '08 was the first year for the LS3. '06 had LS2.

In an effort to answer this prickly question of C5Z vs LS3 Z51, I cooked up a bone stock C5Z (down to correct tyre grip, suspension, drag etc etc etc) and a bone stock C6 Z51 LS3 ran them against each other at MSR Houston, they where being modelled for a Mod for rFactor that I started a while back (and never finished - I really should get this done I guess).

And the C6Z and LS3 Z51 are so evenly matched it is a drivers race every tme.

Anyway, enjoy the virtual answer to your real quesiton of C5Z vs C6 Z51 LS3...

^^^ I'm totally on board with this guy. Exactly, you posted in a forum that will totally be biased. Post in the C6 section you'll get the exact opposite. It comes down to what you want. I am in the same position myself. Looking for a either a m6 06/07 LS2, stretching for an LS3 if possible or going with a C5Z.

My .02 the C5Z is more bare bones and has more of a F-Body feel to it. Feels similar to the LS1 f-bodies if you ask me, rides like them as well bone stock. If your after more comfort the C6 is the answer.

Where I totally agree stock for stock the C5Z has the better looks, I think aftermarket C5 vs aftermarket C6, the C6 wins hands down. All it takes is a c6Z front bumper, wide body conversion and a nice set of rims and that car outplays the C5Z all day long.

One other thing is that the C5 body looks so outdated already compared to C6s, when the C7 hits the sales floor the C5s will only look that much more outdated.

HOWEVER, it all depends on what you are looking for. If your looking for more bare bones racing and track fun I would think the C5Z would be more fun, then again who's to say you can't mod the C6 to do the same.

Myself I'm swinging closer to the C6s because I can do the wide body conversion etc... all in my garage.

imho C6 w/ a wide body conversion, wheels and lowering her just can't be beat. Although C5Zs are sick themselves. You really can't go wrong either way, depends on your tastes.

I'm after the played out black on black theme, absolutely love this look!

^ to the guy above me I wouldn't really say that the c5z is outdated as far as looks...The cars lines really have a timeless design and compared to cars 7 and 8 years later they still look something new. As far as Fbody...I atleast hope that you have owned both an Fbody and C5z as i do and i will say the ride quality is alot better in the C5z esp in the handling department..and my 00 SS has a full BMR racing suspension with Bilsteins...However i do agree that a C6 can be made to look great esp with just lowering it and a wide body kit. They are both great cars I went with my c5z basically because im 24 and could not afford a C6z, i never really considered a C6...

C5Z rides like an F-Body? Definitely don't agree with that.

Also, this is just my opinion, but, why get a base C6 and spend all that money on wheels\wide body conversion\etc?

If you're going used any way, why not just get a used C6Z??

And who buys a Corvette based on comfort??? Go get a Lexus! I'll care about that when I'm 85!

Then again, this is the C5Z forum

Yeah im hip. Also , as far as ride is concened, after owning a few F-bodys myself, there is no way the ride is similar not even close. As far as the looks are concerned, the base C5 coupe looks way more dated than the Z, mainly because you dont see that many Zs in the course of a day. The FRC style is rare in itself. I dont see the point in buying a C6 and spending tons of dough to have the ZO6 look. For that money I can only imagine the mods I would install.

Yep...the C5Z rides waaayyyy nicer than an F-body speaking from experience.

And my friend with a black C6 vert saw an EB C5Z for the first time in my town the other night...he started telling me how awesome it was and went on and on. Then I told him it was actually mine and he could sit in it. He acted like he wasn't too excited about his C6 anymore...he was hammered and kept rambling about how awesome and better my car was for about 15 min.

So the Z's still turn some heads! The B&B Bullet exhaust doesn't hurt that either (loud). C6's will never be a Z06...seems like there's more prestige with a Z, it just makes you way cooler.
