If it's worth anything, I purchased a unit that let's the battery drop to 11.7 volts and then automatically disconnects the battery. I don't remember the name but I got it from Mid America for $69.99 and it's working just like it should. It installs on either the top or side of the battery. The positive gets a screw in terminal post and the positive goes to the unit and the negative has a small wire connection from the unit. It's takes some work, because, like all vettes, there is never enough room.
Before I get hit by others, I've started pulling fuses and found one that showed 5.5 amps draw and when disconnected, dropped to 0.5 amps. I wish I had more time but this unit keeps me going until I find the parasitic pwoer drain. I was getting 8 volts drop overnight.
The street rod community has been using battery disconnect switches for years. This company sells models with a micro toggle, or a magnetic lock, or a key lock, or a touch pad. The solenoid resembles an old Ford solenoid. It's rated to 110amps continuous and 750amps surge. A jumper wire allows for all memory features to get power w/o allowing the car to be started. Should someone try to start the car, a small amp fuse will blow out...
