Default Isn't the C5 ZO-6 the lightest Corvette ever built???

I thought I read somewhere that the C-5 ZO-6 is like 3,250#'s. Wouldn't that make it the lightest Vette ever produced? Even lighter than the C6 ZO-6 with it carbon fiber fenders and all that expensive crap???

No, it's not the lightest EVER built, but it is the lightest since the '63 model year (I think). And yes, it is lighter than the C6 Z06.

1953 Corvettes weighed 2886.

And they were all Blueflame verts with glides. The "real" Corvette is a 6 cylinder automatic convertible.

Thank God for progress.

In 2004, I weighed mine on the E-town scale, 1/2 tank of fuel, 3108. no weight reduction at all.

C6Z is very light considering all the extra tech gadgets, bigger motor, beefier drivetrain, bigger wheels/tires etc so 100 pounds or so isn't bad

I agree, the C6Z does a good job of managing its weight considering the heavier equipment.

C5Z curb weight ('02-'04) = 3,118 lbs <--
C6Z curb weight ('06-'07) = 3,132 lbs
C6Z curb weight ('08) = 3,162lbs
C6Z curb weight ('09-'11) = 3,180lbs

It's the ZR1 that I can't figure out - why does it weigh 3,350 lbs? The supercharger alone can't account for 170 lbs over the C6Z. I guess the bigger brakes, rims, tires, and body kit pieces all add up.

The 04 Z06 Commemorative with the carbon fiber hood is the lightest C5 Z06. The hood is 10.6 lbs lighter than the standard hood for a total weight of 3086 lbs wet.

I'm seeing some heavy Zs.

My 02 with HRE wheels, rear spoiler, Vortex Rammer and 1/2 tank of gas = 3080Lbs
My 03 in absolute stock form with 1/2 tank of gas = 3070Lbs.

I'm not sure why a bunch of your Zs weighed so much.

GM's Wet weight = full gas, full fluids. Gas is ~8.34lbs per gallon depending on temperature according to the glorious Internet. 8.35lb per gallon for water. Ferrari supposedly states their car's weight dry. So the dry weight of the C5 Z06 is very likely close or under 3000lbs. Mine BTW was 3077lbs with 5/8 tank of gas.

I weighed mine with a supercharger kit, headers, cutouts, meth pump, msd bap, atleast 1/2 tank of gas, and a bunch of random crap in the trunk was 3180 lbs. My friends c6z with cai, headers, and bb exhaust, w/ 1/4 tank? and nothing in the trunk was 3120.

Never seen gas figures that high.

As far as I've seen, gasoline weighs 5.8Lbs-6.2Lbs. Most people just say 6Lbs as an average.

Either way, GM's weight figures are correct for a car with a full tank:

6Lbs x 18gal = 108Lbs (Full tank)
6Lbs x 9gal = 54Lbs (Half tank)

So if my car was 3070 with half tank, then it'd be 3124Lbs with a full tank. The thing is that I don't know if the needle showing 50% fuel left is accurate since there seems to be a 4 gallon reserve.

My original SMALL tank Z06 weighed 3050 lbs before the roll bar install. However, the finned J56 brakes are more than twice as heavy as the stock 63 drum brakes, so I would presume that a stock low or no option 1963 Corvette would be the lightest Corvette ever built.
