[Z06] Isn't the C5 ZO-6 the lightest Corvette ever built???

and the noise of the straight pipes negates the 3lbs per side weight savings, which is all I was really saying.
What I got from your posts was basically "I'm right, you're wrong, I'm smart you're dumb, I'm big you're little, and there's nothing you can do about it, lalalalala *sticks fingers in ears*."
LMAO, now this revelation has certainly made this whole thing very entertaining, to say the least.

The 1957 Corvette is the lightest Corvette ever with a V8 engine.
1957 Corvette Specifications
•Wheelbase: 102"
•Length: 168"
•Front Track: 57"
•Rear Track: 59"
•Tires: 6.70x15
•Weight: 2730 lbs
•Factory Price: $3,465
•Total Production: 6,339
1957 Corvette Performance
With 283 cid, 283 hp, Fuel-Injected Engine
•0-60 mph: 5.7 Seconds
•0-100 mph: 16.8 Seconds
•Top Speed: 132 mph
Of the 6,339 Corvettes built in 1957, only 1,040 included the fuel-injection engine
I have seen the factory weight at 2849 LBS also.
SO THIS IS THE CORRECT ANSWER, FOR A V8

My original small tank 63 Z06 weighed 3000lbs stock (somewhat lighter now), HOWEVER, the stock Z06 drums are VERY heavy, therefore, I suspect that a stock 63 coupe (non Z06) would be somewhat lighter.

Not meaning to dig up an old thread but I just switched over to axle back Borla Straight pipes from my Borla Stingers. My Borla Straight pipes weighed in at a combined 12lbs barely, where as my Borla Stingers weighed in at 44lbs. I still have my Borla Stingers in my spare bedroom. I traded my stock Ti's that weighed 29lbs for the Borla Straights. There is NO XR1 muffler with my Borla Straights. They go right over the axle and hook right into the stock H pipe. I saved 17lbs of weight by going with the Borla Straights over the stock Ti's and I saved 32lbs of weight by switching over to the Borla Straights from the Borla Stingers. True Story!!

I agree, the C6Z does a good job of managing its weight considering the heavier equipment.
C5Z curb weight ('02-'04) = 3,118 lbs <--
C6Z curb weight ('06-'07) = 3,132 lbs
C6Z curb weight ('08) = 3,162lbs
C6Z curb weight ('09-'11) = 3,180lbs
It's the ZR1 that I can't figure out - why does it weigh 3,350 lbs? The supercharger alone can't account for 170 lbs over the C6Z. I guess the bigger brakes, rims, tires, and body kit pieces all add up.

The straights are significantly louder and yes they do have drone, but I was after a more louder aggressive sound. However, I just have CAI, 160 stat, TB bypass, Borla straights and a tune. I drive a modded 03 WRX as my daily driver so the sound isn't bothersome to me. I love it and I have had many many compliments from the way the car is sounding now. I wished that I would have saved several hundred dollars a few years ago and went with the straights to begin with.

Heavier wheels, lighter tires
Beefier clutch and rear differential
Definitely heavier engine due primarily to the blower and intercooler
Does the base ZR1 come better equipped than a base C6 Z06? That may be another contributing factor to the weight difference.
