I love the C4 ZR1 and I would love to own one, but I would not trade my C5 for it.

If I already had two C5's and didn't drive either as daily drivers then I might. But if it was my only Corvette then I'd keep the C5. But would like a Grand Sport more then a ZR-1.

Nope...I like them and would add it to a collection, but not trade my C5 for one, not going to happen.

real simple...........NO! my C4 was the worst of all the corvettes i have owned as far as driving comfort and ease of entry and exit. my wife got to where she would refuse to ride in the car (i had a 93 convertible) unless she was wearing pants as you couldn't exit it in any thing that resembled a normal manner. if you haven't ridden in one in a while (or never), you should try it, you won't believe the difference between the C4 and the C5.

C4 is probably the last generation I would want.

I think you are being way to harsh on the C4. I owned a '92, 6 speed Targa and until I drove a C5 I loved the thing! I agree the C5 is much more refined in all ways, but for it's time the C4 was awesome. I knd of refer to the C4 as the "Brute" and the C5 as the "finished" sports car. I love the way you can access the entire nose of the C4 and although difficult to get in and out of, I liked the "cockpit" feel of the C4. All in all, each corvette style, year, has its own uniqueness and attributes...they are all great, but I do prefer the C5.

If I owned a C5 Coupe and the ZR-1 was a 93-95, yes I would. But since I have my ZO6, No. But I would definitely think about adding one to the garage in the future.

I wonder how many of you have actually driven a ZR-1. Im talking about really driving one, not once around the block, but say WOT shifting at 7200 rpm.....I would bet you guys would definitely gain a new respect for the LT5.

The last fun I had with my lightly moded 92 ZR-1 was beateing the hell out of an SRT8. You should have seen the guys after. They rolled up beside me wondering how they just got their new car spanked by a lowly C4.

All I ask is you answer the question from the OP and with hold your commentary if youve never truly experienced a ZR-1. For the most part, people who bag on a ZR-1 have no idea what the car is capable of, and really wind up sounding silly, if not just plain stupid.

I owned a 1993 40th Anniversary ZR-1 the only thing I didn't like about it was the the seats. But I got to tell you, you can't compare the two technology's their just different. I know because I now own a 2003 Z06. Now you say! Which do I like better? It's just plain easier to get in and out of the 2003 Z06 than the 1993 ZR-1. Performance, Well, I made my ZR1 a top end car. Off the line not so good mid track real good 3/4 track pulls real strong. Best 1/4 Time 10:99 @130mph and there's nothing like the sound of a ZR-1 at full song. Now for the 2003 Z06 in a nut shell, head @ cam package, headers, tuned, lighter, faster, and more agile than the ZR-1. Would I trade back Yes I would if parts were more readily available. I still love the ZR-1.

Munky,
I have seen pictures of your hardtop.
"Sweet"
Add the C4 if you want but don't trade for it.
C4s are hard to get in and out of.
just my two cents.

Thanks for the compliment. I have been toying with the idea of adding the zr1, but the wife isn't on board, and I understand. I had a 95 z07 c4, and loved it. Although dated now, it was an awesome car.

My original thought was to fix up the zr, and keep it for a while and when the market came back look to sell, but... I might be wiser holding out for a c6 z06, and keep my pennies where they are a little longer.

Thanks for all the input... I still think I need to go test drive that thing....

I would. And in a couple years when I was bored and had saved up enough nickels I'd go buy a C6 to keep it company...
