I actually read through my manual (02 vert) one night. I know, I guess I was pretty bored. I came across one part where they recommend to keep the speed under 75 when in second gear. I got a chuckle out of that.

I may be wrong, but I thought it was all 2001 and up models..

I don't know if you know this, but an 03 Cobra is faster than a C5 coupe, stock for stock. I wouldn't call them slow. They're actually a really good car and holding their values better than C5s. They may have a Mustang body, but they have a T56 trans, factory built motor, and independent rear suspension. Just a 'FYI'.

I have a friend at work who is a Mustang nut, as I was before I got my C5. He has a 65' Shelby and an 0?' Cobra-R. The Cobra-R's are beasts!
He is always trying to get me to go on cruises with them but I just don't want to deal with all the Mustangs reving their motors next to me. I get enough of that around town.
Personaly, I would be happy with either. The Cobras are not the typical Mustang. I love my C5 and think it's one of the sexiest sports cars ever made and hope to keep mine until I die. But I have my issues with it.
The 6 speed has its noise off the line and in reverse that I hate. In fact it really bothers me. A car that cost what these did new should not have that in my opinion. Electrical issues galore!!!!
Even with all the things I hate about the C5, I still love it. It offers me something that other cars don't. Makes me feel special. Just wish my car wasn't Torch Red! Too much "Hey.... Look at Me!"
Down the road, I'm going flat/satin black.

yes i know this i owned one new since 03 up until last year. i used to be the other way around...... talking smack about every corvette but i didnt know any better. okay so a stock c5 vs an 03 cobra? i recently took my c5 to the track and went 13.01@ 112 and when the 03 cobra i had was stock after about a million runs the best it went was 12.98@112 but keep in mind that was in florida and i ran my c5 in indiana. my point is that an 03/04 cobra with the factory supercharger maxes out at around 500rwhp which is pretty good but thats also at 16-17psi and porting the blower. i was devastated when i got my butt handed to me when i raced a a bolt on cam only c5. i recently said this in another post but all an 03/04 cobra is good for is making good dyno numbers, youtube videos and yes they can run good numbers at the track but on the street its a different story

That's odd... You made 500RWHP with a ported blower? I have friends with 03/04 SVTs making 500RWHP with a pulley, exhaust and tune. Are you sure your car was tuned well?

Either way, they're not slow. Street or strip. That was my point. I'd take a C5 over a Terminator any day, but that's because I like the interior, ride and looks of the Corvette more. But I still respect the Terminator as one of the great cars out there.

Yeah, my car has some quirks too, but nothing that bothers me to the point that I'd get rid of my car for anything other than an upgrade (which there's not really any upgrade options out there I like).

I have a reverse lock-out issue and I'd REALLY like to get those lower opening headlights when they're available. The seats suck and I hate that farting noise the seat makes every time it moves forward or backwards for the easy-entry system. (Maybe some felt would fix that?)

But I love the car. The only thing that would make me sell it is if my girlfriend and I are ready to buy a house and we need the down payment money right away.

BTW, have you thought about doing a flat/satin color other than black? I've seen some flat blue, red, orange and dark greens that looked killer. If I were going to do a flat/satin, I'd do a dark blue. That way I wouldn't be replicating the same thing everyone else does and it'll still be good looking, dark, and not so much attention grabbing.

the most i ever made after quite a few dyno tunes was 504rwhp and that was with long tubes off road x pipe cold air intake and a 16lb pulley with a stage 4 steggy ported eaton. no 03/04 cobra is going to make 500rwhp without porting the blower. ive had it at 3 major shops in this country to know what those things will put down on a dyno. a typical cobra without porting the blower will make at the most 470ish at the wheels. the most ive heard of was 516rwhp with a ported blower but i didnt see the dyno it was someone on youtube. like i said the blower maxes out around 16 pounds anything more and the roots run way too hot and the car will actually make less power. so to get back on topic yes they are nice cars but they are tanks its amazing how much better a c5 feels on the road compared to one of those. ever since i got behind the wheel of a c5 i will never go back to a mustang

Fair enough. I learned to drive on my dad's first Corvette. Then I bought a few F-bodies and other cars. When I bought my first C5Z06, I realized I was done. The C5Z is the most comfortable fit for my personality and driving style. I've never been more comfortable driving any other car. Everything about the car is perfect (other than not having a double din radio. LOL)

If I can get the little quirks fixed, the car will be 100% perfect.
