Ha, I went to the grocery store a while back and saw a C4 Vette parked a little further out in the lot, sooooooo I decided that to help protect at least one of each side of our cars I would park next to him
I figured neither of would hit the others car, right?
Well, I could see this old douche and his too-young-for-him girlfriend watching me and my girl walk into the store. Find out that it is his Vette and was getting nervous
I joked with him and said something like, "nice car, at least one side of our cars is safe", and he was cool.
Some do it just to **** you off - happens all the time, but I have decided it is a deeper psychological problem than that. I have noticed more and more that people are pretty much brain dead - they live in the cyber-world - with their cel phones running 24/7 it only tells me that they all want to be anywhere but where they are at all the time?
I have noticed lately that some of these people just gravitate to wherever they see another car parked - no thought involved - they do the same thing when they walk into a restaurant. I usually eat out alone and at off hours and 8 times out of 10 when someone comes in a restaurant and I am the only one there they will sit down at the table right next to me! I guess they all have large families and it is some kind of human bonding thing?
It's generally not that someone parks next to me, but how close they feel they have to do it. I always park way out at the far end, and usually have a vehicle so close to me that I have to wonder "why?" There are other times, they're in their spot and I'm in mine... and I'm fine with that. Chances are, it's a compliment by them parking nearby and having admired the car (I like to think so, anyways).
Similar to this, I had an issue back in '03 a few days after having my Camaro repainted. I was on my way to an f-body club meet and I had stopped off at a gas station to get a bottle of soda. I parked way in the hell away from the building. When I came back out to my car, somebody had parked next to me, chipped the paint on the door, and left.
So, yeah, I feel I have a right to be nervous about somebody parking next to me when I'm in either the Camaro or the Vette.

Sometimes I wonder if its worth it...I'm nothing special...but my Vette is...never could understand why people are such jealous bastiches...maybe its just me....................nah
...and for those who think a Vette isn't special then go get a beat up POS, put a Corvette emblem and letters on it and soup it up to go fast...you don't need a Corvette
(I'm an elitist **** right Kale?)
If I take the time to "Park in the Ozone" I take more than one spot and on a angle. Then if you park next to me ..well you get what you deserve! . Yes its only a C5 but I have been a Victim of the his car is better than mine so I'll just *uck it up .
I caught a car load of sh** heads the other day. The car had one sh*t head hanging out the window holding on to a shopping cart while the driver sped through the lot, made a hard turn and the shopping cart was then launched into a car parked in the lot. The chase was on, got the plate # gave it to the damaged car owner waited for the cops to give a witness statement. I don't take the vette to the parking lot. I take the beater and park in the thick of it.
You should put your car in your garage and never use it.
Why? he's right, people drive today as if their license was mail order.
Don't know to stay to the right on traffic circles
Cross the road to park facing the direction of traffic, instead of making a u-turn and parking correctly. Means now they have to drive on the wrong side of the road to get to the right side. I have paper correction for that.
Reading all of this gives me more reason to believe that my next best "mod" is a 10-year old Jeep Grand Cherokee that runs great and looks like crap.
I love me Vette, I enjoy driving it and hanging out with other "Vetteheads", however I remember when I was 21 the freedom of owning a car that you didn't care who or what parked next to it, washed it once or twice a year and as long as it started and the stereo worked, I was happy!
My Vette is a sunny daily driver for me so I get to visit parking lots quite often. I try to remember that it is a car and not to get too tweaked when some douche bag parks on top of my door. I try to park on the opposite side of a curb and when I'm way out there I'll take a couple of spot and park it diagonal. I have noticed quite a bit of retards where I live but I've also noticed quite a few "guardians". I live in the same town as a GM plant and it seems most of those guys love Vettes and seem to park as to protect my car.
My favorite is when I park out in the middle of nowhere to walk out and see all the nice cars owned by enthusiasts kind of huddled around each other.
My vette is not a daily driver, so I try to never park on a lot. Every time I read one of these threads about parking lot damage I'm reminded why.
I know vettes are just cars but mine is the nicest car I've ever owned and I admit I'm parinoid about something happening to it. Most people admire a vette but there are those that will go out of thier way to ruin your day by messing with your ride.

I just try to park next to a curb or something that allows the full swing of my driver door so I can get my fat *** out with out hurting my knee trying to stand up using one leg
Good idea...maybe you should let the entire world f-up your Vette
Park uphill by shopping carts and try to pick expensive cars with short doors to park next to. Hasn't failed me in 10 years of corvette ownership.

Drawing attention to your car like that is just daring someone to vandalize it.
Now I'm not saying people are princesses for parking out in the back 40. I'm just saying its asinine to feel enraged, or worse, feel like you're entitled to damage your parking buddy's car for doing it. He's got just as much right to be in his space as you do in yours.
There is one draw back to parking way out and by yourself. Leaving the gym one day, I saw an SUV parked next to me (between the gym and my car). About half way there, the Z alarm goes off. Someone jumps in the SUV, and they peel out. Obviously trying to jack the car or at least break in.
Happened a second time at the gym. This time, the perp parked on the other side to screen himself from a crowded mexican food place with people of the patio. I could see the guy with a slim jim working on the passenger window. Alarm goes off, I start running, but they speed off before I can get a plate.
Solution.............................I joined a different gym where police work out.
