Not really. This has nothing to do with Corvettes as you can insert any other brand/model that you enjoy. This is about harmless ranting about the boorish behavior and lack of social etiquette in today's society.

We all know these are PUBLIC parking lots. I guess everyone should expect to have a car parked next to you or near you, however this is about how some people go out of their way to protect their (insert brand/model) only to have some careless person damage (insert brand/model).

When I park far away from the herd, it's not because I feel I have a sense of entitlement that no one park next to me. I'm just trying to be proactive.

BTW - I don't like it when guys **** next to me in the next urinal either. Especially when there are five open urinals! Guess it's just a thing with me!

Another view...
I've seen cars parked way out in lots and I intentinally parked respectfully next to them to prevent some red necked moron from getting his jolly's off dinging up a nice ride. If I'm there no one else can get next to it..

You don't like Vettes or their owners, I'm sure there's a Prius forum somewhere.

I also park my daily driver as far out as possible. I just don't like door dings. My wife often tells me that it would have been closer if we'd walked from home.

What's even funnier is that the people who could really use the benefit of walking a little more are the ones who circle the parking lot for 10 minutes trying to get a close slot.

Buy a Corvette, be crazy/nutty in protecting it and walk a few extra parking lot miles each year. Maybe you will lose a few pounds!

Its not about pride, status or being stuck up. Its about taking care of something that costs tens of thousands of dollars. I have always done it with all my cars. I would rather walk a little farther than be parked next to a car that hasnt been washed in a year and is covered in dents, dings and scratches. If they dont take care of their own vehicle you can bet they coudn't care less about someone elses. Some people wouldnt even notice that they banged their door into your car, and wouldnt think twice about leaving a shopping cart up against your bumper. They can treat their car however they like, but I'm going to take the time to distance my car from that kind of person.

I had figured out what they called my color magnetic red, because it magnetically attracts all the cars in the parking lot to park next to it.

It has to be something in their brains, why park your pick em up truck next to the vette and walk all that way into the store.

Though my vette is not my DD, I still drive it enough where I inevitably have to leave it unattended at times when parked. The best strategy to avoid the leaches usually involves me parking my vette next to the NICEST/NEWEST cars I can find in the lot (if relatively full). I.E. I know THEY will be careful just as I am careful.
If the lot is relatively empty, I try to park on the furthest spot on either "side" of the row near the curb (without hitting/curbing my rims/car of course). Even though the car is wide, this gives enough space in most parking lots where even a complete moron would have to try pretty hard to ding your car accidently, and if no care was taken, then to ding up your car under these circumstances would essentially be intential vandalism.
Other strategies: if meeting friends at coffee for example (and I can't see the car from inside lol): I intentionally park very close to them or even in between them (more than one). Leaving more space for the car on the other side. They dont care because:
A) they know I'm careful.
B) I have good friends lol
C) not all my friends drive high profile cars enabling me to blur the leaches' radars by hiding.

Are you serious? You don't understand why I would be upset when I park a country mile out in the parking lot to obviously avoid having Mr. 1982 Chrysler Cordoba with 7' doors parked next to my car. Have you read some of the horror stories written on here?? Regardless of what make or model I'm driving, I didn't walk my **** that far for nothing and everyone seems to agree that there are some people out there committing hate crimes against Corvette's and other nice cars. Yeah I said it.... Hate Crimes.

I think people do it to any car in general not just a vette. I know with my last car I would park way out away from everyone and I always do. People just like to be sarcastic. I parked at the back of the target parking lot yesterday morning and I saw a white truck driving through the lot. He managed to drive out and park right beside mine. It doesnt really bother me just makes me laugh. As long as they dont get close enough that their door hits.

Drawing attention to your car like that is just daring someone to vandalize it.

Now I'm not saying people are princesses for parking out in the back 40. I'm just saying its asinine to feel enraged, or worse, feel like you're entitled to damage your parking buddy's car for doing it. He's got just as much right to be in his space as you do in yours.
