I have a Hurst C6 model Billet Plus shifter. I also have a C6 shift **** on it. I like this set up, but since I haven't tried any other shifters I don't know if it's any better than any others.

It's definitely a lot better than the stocker, though.

.....which is exactly why I posted. I didn't know about the MGW, but now that I do and see how popular it is and what a great quality unit it is, I've bought one.

Thanks for all the input guys!

I am in the minority here but I Loved my B&M Shifter when I had my C5. Maybe too stiff for some, but it was perfect for me.

i have tried the following (in order) on my 04 C5:
stock C5
C6
B&M
hurst billet plus
MGW (the last one and still in the car!!

in my opinion, the MGW is head and shoulders above the others for positive short shifts. obviously the stock shifters weren't in the same class, but in my opinion neither were the B&M or the hurst.

i had a hurst and loved it but ended up switching to bpp so i could use a different stick for an old school look. bpp feels pretty good also and is a little less stiff (not that the hurst was too stiff). Now i have 2 sticks that i am still deciding between. 1 is shorter (.1 inches longer than the hurst) the other is .4 inches taller than that. here is a pic of the taller. either way the change was the best easiest thing i have done to my c5z.

RK Sport Short Throw Shifter

Make sure you get the shorter boot ... the stock boot looks really lame all bunched up!

Ya know, shifters are a lot like beer. Some people swear that XXX beer is the best, while others swear XXX beer SUCKS.

Your NEVER going to get a 100% straight answer on what one is the ABSOLUTE BEST SHIFTER.

Some people are BRAND LOYAL and some just like the way a specific shifter works.

For me, it's the KIRBAN. I like its features and ruggedness. It just plain works for me!

Until you put your hand on various shifters and run the car thru the gears,,, your never going to figure out what the PERFECT shifter really is.

Test drive a few C5 with different shifters and see what you like.

Thats the real answer.

Mark buy the TPS427 from Mike you will love it, I say this because its a old CF Mod shifter. What you get is a C6Z06 Shifter it is cut down 3/4 of a inch then threaded for a 9/16-18 thread I made them yrs ago for people the RSD Snap shifter is close to the same as the TPS427 I have had one in my car for over 2-1/2 yrs it is nice if you would like to try it lmk and we can hook up. The reason to get rid of the C5 shifter is it sits way to high and the one in your car is prob. worn out the part that wears out is not the handle but the cast block housing and bushings in it. and most of the after market shifters just mount in your old cast block housing so what does that really do for you nothing. Why I did this is because if I want to change the round ball to a Long delrin **** it is very easy to do just un-thread it and ur done. Mark send me your number and lets talk this weekend.

RSD Snap Shifter all the way!

I've had the Breathless Performance shifter... It was OK, but not great for daily driving.
I've driven cars with a B&M, MGW, and another (didn't know which one it was) and wasn't a fan of any of them other than the MGW. But I still like the RSD Snap shifter WAY more. The stock C5 Z06 shifter is lame. You can hear the wind gusts between the shifts because you practically have to throw the shifter 50 feet before you get in the gate.

The 2 shifters are essentially the same but the TPS 427 is about $60 less.

TPS Motorsports' 427 Shifter is taken from one of the greatest sports cars in the world, the 2011 C6 Z06 Corvette, and we modify it to provide a shorter throw than the stock C6Z shifter. Unlike aftermarket shifters, the TPS 427 Shifter retains the nice smooth shifting action of the Z06 Shifter while reducing the length of the shift throws about 30%. The TPS 427 Shifter makes shifting more precise and generally makes driving your Corvette that much more enjoyable. To top off the great shifter we add a Hurst Shift **** of the color of your choice for only $219.99 shipped to your door
