Well, lets start off that I put the tiger shark on because I have a large front mount intercooler that needed some extra air and my MCM carbon fiber hood, helps me extract the heat of my 2 turbos. I have a wide body rear fenders so I can run a 345 tire on a 12.5" rim to help put down the 1000 RWHP my car makes.
He who throws stones.....
I did agree with most of your stuff and a couple of things on yours I would not do however I do like your overall look.
Funny though your justifications do sound a lot like what Ricers tell be when I ask why?
I did have my original front end on with the FMIC for about 4 years, and I do see lower post intercooler temps with the tiger shark. I live in AZ and I am always in a battle with temperatures; especially in the summer.
I also had the stock hood for a while with the turbos, and the heat under the hood started to make wires brittle. I wrapped them all in heat shielding and still had to replace wiring harnesses during my last turbo upgrade. A vented hood is a must (at least in the warmer states) if you want your electrical components to stay functional. Now to your point, the MCM hood was my own choice, but I feel as if it complements the stock lines of the car. The hood has subtle curves that flow well with the front fenders; and it fits like stock.
The rear fenders were always where I thought GM didn't finish the C5. The front fenders have a nice 'swooping' curve over the wheel well, and the rear fenders were simply flat, that went to a nice wire rear end. The design of the T2 fenders could pass for stock. There are other fenders (L5 or ACP) that look aftermarket due to the harder lines they take over the wheel well. There are no obvious lines on the C5, they are all nice curves.
My thread was simply to my observation, as I feel that certain aftermarket parts, or parts from other generation vettes do not look good on the C5, since they do not compliment the original design of the car. I love C6 ZR1 wheels on a C6, but I again I think they look like a$$ on a C5. Just my .02.
The acrylic black outs are my taste. I can take the bashing if you do not like them. Like I said in previous posts, I was really on the fence about putting them in, but I am not really that fond of the way they look on the tiger shark. If I was the designer I would have created a 'tiger shark turn signal' and moved it down to the lower duct area.
BTW.. The tiger shark was originally designed by GM. The GM car was auctioned off at Barrett Jackson 2 years ago for $120k. What C5 pulls that kind of money any more
Car looks incredible. Well done and in my opinion a great improvement over stock.
I think the OPs body kit looks ricer. Maybe thats why he hate normal mods. It makes his car look bad. I like C6 wheels better than his wheels. I would get C6 wheels but I am OK with thye chrome wagon wheels. There not great but OK. Better than the OPs wheels. But then I burned my car down since the OP said its a POS. It has red calipers.
Well I guess they do it because it is their car and that is what they like.
I happen to have C6 Z06 chrome repro wheels on my C5 coupe. .

[QUOTE=MSG C5;1576534612] Well said.
As I mentioned on the "Etiquette" thread, at the end of the day, the "It's your car, so do what you want" response always wins. However, since you post on a public forum and at times ask for opinions, you will get a variety of comments, both positive and negative.

I could not have stated it better my self.
I guess I am guildy of at least 4 out of 11 list
[QUOTE=TR6speed;1576535171]I just change that and post my Modded '01 coupe. I like it and I really could care less what anyone else thinks, so here goes;

Okay.. I can take that the ACP side skirts may not be to your liking, but to say you wouldnt trade my iForged 3 piece Aeros, for Stock C6 rims shows you are an idiot and all your taste is in your mouth. But then again you are still rocking the wagons.

I do agree with some of the list and I have broken a rule or 2. I have C6 wheels but they are take offs because I didnt want heavy repros and I dont want to spend big money on wheels until I do widebody fenders. That being said here is a couple pics of my ride. ( I do have the C6 jake because I like jake and dont think it should be changed to have the C5 flags)
I'll just quote my buddy Pete who owns the Dreamstreet Hot Rod shop in Moundhouse, Nv. "All corvettes are parts cars". Don't know what that has to do with this thread, but since I'm on my 7th vette, I've been hearing it a long time. I guess it always makes me laugh. C'mon folks, don't take things so seriously! As I always say, "It's only a plastic chevy!" Let's chill.
This right here is the reason I don't visit forums that much. Here are the facts, the thread starter stated he thinks some Corvette mods are a little on the lame side. Ok we all have our opinions and are entitled to that, it's one of the perks to living in the USA What I see here is a bunch of guys with their panties all up in a bunch over it. Ok whatever... But here's the kicker, there is another thread going on right now covering the ugliest Corvettes out there and guess what... Last time I looked the guys bashing the OP on this thread for saying some mods are ugly are not saying a thing on the ugly Corvette thread... You know what that means to me? Those who are bashing people here for saying what they like and dislike and not bashing the posters on the ugly Corvette thread = forum trolls
Yes I said it and I mean it. Everyone has their opinions right or wrong but when you apply a set of rules in one thread and other rules in another you guys look like a bunch of hypocrites.
Just wanted to add a few more to the list, Steering wheel wraps, carpet on the dash, curb feelers, cartoons anywhere on your car and just about everything you can buy at Pep Boys, Walmart, and Auto Zone!
I usually don't care what crap people put on their cars, but sometimes it becomes embarassing if you own that same vehicle. If you really like your neons and pink fur interior...great! Just don't get butt-hurt if I opine that I don't.
Even though my Corvette is stock, everybody has a right to do what they want with their car. There are some things done to Corvettes I would consider crazy, but so what? And I'd hardly consider borrowing from the Corvette gene-pool crazy. C6 rims on a C5? Seems fine to me. Z06 brake ducts on a coupe? Cool. In the end, if it's not your car then why should you care what the owner did to it?

Because it's winter and there isn't much else to do, and it's fun

One of his turbos is worth more than a set of repro wheels. I say you race him instead of talk crap and the loser burns the others car to the ground.
Since I have had my C5, going to cruise-ins and car shows I have noticed that the majority of non-Vette owners at the shows look at Vette owners as obnoxious, arrogant jerks! Based on a few of the attitudes I have seen in this thread, they are right! I can't believe some people would just blatantly tell someone their car looks bad! Even if I don't think it looks good, I would never step low enough to say it to them. Not saying I am better than anyone, I had good manners instilled in me at a young age and I still live by them today. I know no one cares, but I think it is time I go find me another forum! So long CF!!

Vette owners are indeed looked upon as arrogant snobs. I went to a car show this past summer. I didnt even enter my car, I just parked it along with all the other cars and I
cant tell you how many snobby looks I got when I answered their question "What do you drive?"
Now I know why.
I am in the same boat as you two; tracer1 and 91redragtop.
I personally, even though no one cares, would never comment negatively about someones car. It is their car, their money, and their decision on what they wish to do with it.
