Takes a lot ***** to post something this blatantly ignorant. Kudos.

This is very true with Corvette only shows. Which is why I quit going to them. Chrome and floormats win over performance enhancing mods... on a SPORTS car. Not hating on the red car, do as you will with it but, take it to a performance show and see how the tables turn.
The way I see it is there are some mods then actually depend on OTHER mods to be well executed. For example, having a nice 19inch forged wheel setup is nice... but looks unfinished on a car with stock ride height. Another example would be having an aftermarket hood and the rest of the body is stock. While the mod itself is nice, as a complete car it looks unfinished. I am breaking one of the OP's rules by using hydrocarbon but, I do see his point on it. I take no offense and neither should anyone on here. It's HIS opinion so if you don't like it, go make your own thread. I like my hydrocarbon and will use more of it. I only have it in the interior as I am sure that actual carbon fiber and hydrocarbon weigh the same in that application. Besides that, GM uses hydrocarbon also. OP, you went against the grain and knew you would make a few people upset but, they will either see the thread for what it is or whine.

I use to attend may shows in the Tampa Bay area as well as around the state, and what you say is true at some shows but not all shows. A show that is truly judge and cars assigned a proper class than all is fair (or what seems fair). It is the shows that either let each participant judge, or the group putting the show on does not verify each car for it proper class, is when you will see cars win trophies that you wonder how in the world. The club I use to belong (gone lone wolf) does a show each year and they do not allow any of the club members to show their cars. Each car is judge by two judges and normally they either have or had a Vette in the generation they are judging plus they are instructed to move a car from the class it is in if it does not belong there, such as claiming stock, and when it is judged or even earlier it is found that it needs to be in modified or custom. In shows like this, normally the awards do go to those that truly deserve them.
Is it proper etiquette to have a front chin spoiler without a rear spoiler, or visa versa? I always hesitate on the rear spoiler because my nose gets beat up bad enough with stock clearance.
My own mod that I am most unhappy about are the blackouts. I went with the lower cost smoke acrylic and am very unhappy with the fit and looks.
ICULUKN, I do like your tiger shark front end, and what did you use for blackouts? I have a triple black and am always looking for nice DARK mods!!
Those are just smoked acrylic covers. I was really on the fence about paint tinting the front light. I thought the acrylic may hold up a little better. Time will tell
Wow, this thread is really gaining some traction, kinda like when I put C6 rims on the my 98. They look WAY better than the wagon wheels that came with it.
My mother always told me if I didn't have anything nice to say to keep my trap shut. I think you can apply that to this forum also. If someone posts their latest mod and you don't care for it, don't say anything. Once they see that only one or two like minded people post and everyone else looks and doesn't post, I think they may get the hint.
I agree with you on all items. I try to keep all my mods clean and simple. Many small subtle mods that add up to a whole package look. Not one single thing that stands out and screams "aftermarket". I think GM got the design right the first time. I am just smoothing out the rough spots...
That's what I prefer for my mods.... not everyone is like that though.
Its there car and I guess they can do what "they" like to it.
When they go to sell it they will have to find someone that likes there taste in mods...
Toque
for the most part.
The only item you listed that I might have a slight disagreement with is with Hydrocarbon. If done subtly it can really upgrade the engine bay (I don't use it on the interior). I also do not use it because it "looks" like CF necessarily. In fact, I am not crazy about the whole CF look in general. High-Quality Real CF done right (like PPI Design for Audi in Germany) is an exception, but most of the CF I have seen done in the USA commercially looks like crap - they just throw it on and clearcoat it. The Hydrocarbon is at least consistent in pattern! I have a combination of both real CF and Hydrocarbon in the engine compartment and when I point out which is which to most people they either cannot tell the difference or they say they like the Hydrocarbon better.
Only had my Vette for 3 weeks and don't want to upset anyone. But, a guy in the parts for sale section has a 15k mile ls6 out of his 2001 z06 for sale. Would that be in bad tas te to put in a 99frc? I don't have badges but my calipers are RED! If it's OK to use the LS6 then do I have to use the M12 too? Oh no, what about the diff? I'm also concerned about the instrument cluster. Will I have to get aftermarket gauge faces so I can have the correct redline for the tach? I have seen used clusters for sale, But they do have Z06 on the face of trhe gauges. What have I gotten myself into!! I'm getting that red paint off my calipers right away.

Good points Alex... I used to go to a bunch of shows. I have not been going to many lately though. I sometimes like to go to meet my buddies, go see some beautiful custom hotrods, or just go to get out of the house. I don't care about winning anything at these shows (its not why I go). The Charity events for Kids always get me going.
I always get a good laugh when the Corvette guy with the flashing lights under his hood.... way over done interior and engine bays... NO performance upgrades.... and they win 1st place. It makes them happy though... I prefer to upgrade my performance.
That's just my opinion though. We all know opinions are like azz holes.... everyone has one...

No offense towards anyone that is a fan of the Hydro carbon.
I try to shy away from stuff like that because I see it as a "FAD". Something that might be popular now, but will be "sooo last year" in the coming years. I always try to upgrade components that look like stock, enhance my performance in some way, and blend in with the surrounding parts.
That's just me though... Its not the taste of everyone of course, and I'm not here to say my opinion is the right opinion of course.

Must be a rough day for me...I don't know if you're joking or not.
Get rid of the socks - suck your rear cheeks in and stand up straight, then you'll look better than most of the 20-40 year olds do with their over size pants and bellies.
Yea, that's what I intended. It was sarcasism. At 58, I don't worry too much about what others do with their cars. I think generally speaking if you are a "car guy" mods will make sense and generally flow with the car and non car guys or gals can appreciate the changes. Some people make changes to stand out and say look at ME. I don't judge, I just know what I like and if it doesn't appeal to me I move on.
Well I became so inspired by everyones comments that I committed to the final mod for now. Just ordered new wheels and tires. I know this may make some purist sick but:
CCW'S 16a's comp gray centers with polished lips 19X11 - 285/30'S and 19X13 - 345/30'S So jump on board and let me know your thoughts. And please engage brain before releasing mouth. This should be fun.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
