Default Being meticulous is not doing research.

Just because you " think " you are meticulous, doesn't mean that you are.. many people think they are the best driver, the best shot, and meticulous about their possessions. Raw aluminum requires someone who is really meticulous.. here is a photo taken back in March 2010 of my 8 year old CCW 505's with 80,000 miles on them. Its not a garage queen. It has seen rain and snow. I keep all four corners looking new and don't mind the effort to do it. Polished aluminum looks much more desirable to me. Every one has Chrome... You can buy chrome wheels at Pep Boys for 80 dollars a wheel.
There are many meticulous people on this forum...You just need to raise your level of meticulousness

My 3pc Boze ZE Forged Tach wheels are simple to keep clean
I had them do the hi luster polish and then they applied the ceramic clear coat to them.

All I need to do is wipe them down and they stay nice and shinny
The ceramic clear is a very popular option with the Boze wheels we sell to everyone.

I also agree with Evil-Twin
A polished wheel looks so much nicer than chrome!

I use the Mother's 3" polishing ball with Adams' #1 and #2 polish. I've had to sand out a couple of minor scratches from one of the wheels. That's the thing about raw, polished aluminum wheels - they require more maintenance but you can perform an at-home, diy repair on anything from minor nicks to some pretty major curb rash with some wet-sanding and metal polish and they look brand new. Btw, these are one of the first sets sold when they first came out. A few shots of my 505A's.

I agree. My CCW's are my race wheels, though.
I love them. I used them first on a roadrace Supra,,,and now on my vette.

I too have had my CCW's w/ a mirrored finish. It is very frustrating after all that work, then Zoop Seal that they couldn't last 3 weeks in the weather. I will once again polish them to perfection, then have them powdered coated w/ clear.

I also think CCW makes a great product, I paid $3000.00 for the wheels 3 yrs. ago. Just wanted to blow off some aluminum wheel frustration.

Be willing to trade a new set of c6 z06 chrome deep dish with firestone wideoval's,245/40/18-285/35/19.Purchased 5/25/10, approximately 7,000 miles on them. Be willing to offer these and a little $$,let me know. L8R THE FLASH

Uh oh my CCW wheels should arrive tomorrow. I was told they require a little more effort but I wasn't expecting all this. Guess that makes me newbe too! Oh well I like washing and polishing.

If was easy everybody would do it.

If it's too easy it's not worth having

There are several good aluminum polishes out there but in my opinion the key is to get a Mother's PowerCone. The shape makes it easy to get in between spokes and is a blessing for polishing the Classics. The work is worth when they shine, there is nothing like them and I get compliments on them all the time. I've been surprised how many ricers know what wheels I have, especially since my center caps are blank.

You should really enjoy having raw aluminum whels.

hmmmm. Well No Offense, you too PICKY. If you drive more then polish you might enjoy them more.

as someone mentioned maybe some chrome wheels are more to your liking. or gray wheels, that dont need as much cleaning.

besides there is more to a set of wheels, then how they hold the polish or shine.

i have three sets of CCW Classics. Yes they are race wheels. I drive them hard and they take a beating. Polish is not my thing. a little wheel cleaner, a wet rag to wipe the wheels off then hose them off

I was told that having them clear coated would make them turn a milky color? Never heard of a clear powdered coat?

Anybody with knowledge on this?

The milky hue is due to the polymer used, in this case acrylic resin. Like Dennis says, go ceramic, completely different technology that leaves a 100% transparent coating. OEMs are looking into this now...

I have the T-10's and it is a ton of work. I knew it wold be alot but I didn't know it would be this much. It's okay though, I love the look and love the wheels. I have been thinking of powder coating them and was wondering if the level of upkeep would be the same. Does anyone know??

Has anyone tried the Eagle 1 products? Many many years ago I used their products on aluminum wheels and it was spray on and hose off. Good stuff.

I bought some flitz pre-clean and their metal polish to use on my aluminum truck wheels. Decided to give it a try on my iForged Aeros. Worked pretty well. Eats away all those water spots, brake dust, salt marks etc. I posted some pics on DC in the detailing section a couple weeks ago if you want to see the results.
