Not that big of an issue - one real cool thing about a vert is when you blow under an overpass on a sunken highway with the pipes growling (like Central Expressway in Dallas).....makes me grin every time

My current Corvette is a red convertible. I've continuously owned a red, V-8 engined convertible of one kind or another for the last 11 years (the first 3 were Mustangs). I wouldn't have it any other way. If conversation becomes an overriding issue, you can always pull over and put the top up.
My wife is a pretty good sport about having the top down. If we're going somewhere in the Corvette, I can tell by what she's wearing and how she's got her hair fixed if she's good with top down or not. Most of the time she's good with it. Makes sense since the first car we ever bought together for her was a 99 Chrysler Sebring Convertible.

Wait till you get home if you want to have a conversation.

Should be able to do both - just may have to increase the volume of the conversation and the radio a tad.

I was convinced that all rags were the same. Roof down, like a motorcycle, no conversation. Well the C5 is a definite big step up, and you can live with it.. city driving not really a problem, highway speeds again not too bad except for the occassional rogue blast of wind that seems to come from nowhere and could blow your hairpiece off!(or a hat along with your hairpiece!) LOL. I also own a Chevy SSr (remember those) Well now we are talking....and talking, the VERY best vert. I have ever had the pleasure to ride in with the roof down. Almost like sitting on the patio(minus the beer) and at all speeds. "Kutos to the General" on this one!!! Greetings, Rob

Have one and it makes a big difference. Also having a divider behind seats that reduces noise from rear helps considerably.

Agree with all of the above. Nothing like owing a vert and wouldn't have anything else. No problem for me with radio or conversations.

My girlfriend used to ask if we could drive with the top up for short trips so it wouldn't mess up her hair. I always told her no. I said that driving with the top up sucks, and that you will feel confined. Well she never believed me. So one day we went to go get some groceries for the week and had to put the top up for the extra room in the trunk. We didn't make it 1 mile before she said, " this is no fun, let's never drive with the top down again" I simply said, "told ya so".

If the wife complains about her hair getting messed, I just have her put her head in my lap until be get where we are going. That's always fun and another reason for a vert.

At freeway speeds, top down, windows down, I can carry on a conversation and hear the radio just fine.

I have a convertible and will never have the top down with the windows up... do any of you realize how nerdy that looks? I always make fun of the convertible driver with the top down and windows up... come on, we drive Vette's, let's be cool about it!

My next door nine year old neighbor kid says it looks gay with the windows up and top down.

1000w stereo helps you to hear music with the top down..

Usually the only converstion Mrs. WKMCD and I have with the top down is her yelling "SLOW DOWN".....which I pretend I can't hear.

I have a VetteNet which we used on long trips and it does help with the cockpit buffeting.
